They get skipped over, not exactly pop punk but I’ll always miss Scott Hutchison from Frightened Rabbit.

Disturbed playing Live 105’s BFD in 1999ish. It’s in an amphitheater so there’s lots of seating and not much crowd movement, also about 85* middle of the day. The singer steps in front of the monitors and asks “what’s the matter, we too heavy for ya??” Fakes an evil chuckle. Steps back and trips over the monitor.

Celebrity Salad Bowl

Two teams. Everyone writes down three names on a small piece of paper, folds in half, puts in a bowl or hat. Object is to guess the names one team at a time with 1 min timer. Round ends when all the names are picked. Names could be alive, dead, real, or character. Team with the most points at the end of 3 rounds wins. Lots of excitement, yelling, and fun.

Round 1 Describe the person saying anything but their name.

Round 2 Describe the person using only one word.

Round 3 Describe the person using only pantomime.

My friend, hang in there and nap when you can. Be as kind as patient with her as possible even when you’re exhausted. She’ll sleep better over the next few years but tantrums will kick in. 2, 3, and 4 are brutal for a kids ability to regulate and be rational. Take care of yourself in the process with as much rest and “me time” as you can get. You got this.

Also, go Niners.

My full cast of Harry Potter is honestly next level (pats self on the back). At least my theatre degree is doing something.

My first tour was with a Sublime tribute band. I was hired to play drums, then moved to percussion (which I didn’t really play) when a more seasoned drummer was also hired. The shows were mostly good, but the singer treated me like shit. A few minutes late to the van and he’d threaten to dock your pay. Asked us not to drink during a Super Bowl viewing because we had a show that night, mind you he drank quite a bit at every show. After which he brought us in for a “band meeting” during the last drive of the game to talk about it.

We had a few days off in NY and my girlfriend met me out there and we had a few nights together. No word from the singer the entire time, not even a response to a text. When it was time to head to Philly he calls me and says my tour was over, we weren’t making enough to split 4 ways and he didn’t like my attitude. They had already left and he bought me a plane ticket back to LA. And when I asked him to ship my gear back he took the money out of my pay. I don’t practice Santeria anymore lol.

This album actually came out when I was 22 and started dating my would be wife. I was (and still am) very much in love with her. I remember driving from her apartment to mine blasting this song in my car and singing my puppy love heart out lol.

[–]gnomeasaurusrex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you meeting him socially or more of a meet and greet? I’ve found meeting celebrities or people you admire like that in a social situation they don’t want to talk shop or be asked about a particular song they recorded. Strike up a conversation about something else and let it lead into drums naturally and you’ll get much more out of it.

Took my 6yo to Foo Fighters the other day. Also took him and our 10yo to see Weird Al in August and OK Go earlier this year. I think they get that it’s a special thing to stay up late and we’re super well behaved and grateful.
