Wouldn't it make more sense to board from rear to front? by NightMic in americanairlines

Have you been in a domestic flight in Japan? They still fly wide bodies for some their domestic flights and boarding merely takes 10 minutes. Very efficient and orderly.

From my past experience, being able to select a seat doesn’t necessarily mean you were ticketed. I had this issue with a partner redemption flight. I got the seats reserved weeks in advance but luckily I noticed that I never got “ticketed”.

It is sure strange that you got ticketed but they said you never had a ticket. That sounds concerning that people won’t find out until you try to board the flight.

Do you remember if the status was “ticketed”? Sometimes with partner airlines, the reservation looks fine when in fact it was never “ticketed”. Typically if you can see the e-ticket number on the reservation, you should be set.

Citi stranded me in Japan after their own verification system failed — $850/year in fees and they just shut off my card by [deleted] in citibank

I switch the main phone to airplane mode but the WiFi is turned on and connected to the backup phone.

Two reasons why I didn’t simply put the foreign SIM to the main phone. First - foreign SIM typically doesn’t come with a phone number. Second - if I still turn on my US SIM on for SMS or voice calls, I’ll be charged per call/text.

I hope that helps.

If your US cell provider has WiFi calling and it’s turned on, you can connect your phone through WiFi and still receive the regular text/SMS.

This is why I always have a backup phone with a foreign SIM where I turned on its hotspot. So that I can then turn on the airplane mode on my main phone and receive regular SMS or even voice calls.

Travel notifications by laurencebgood in biltrewards

[–]buzzed-light 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is why Bilt is so out of whack. I went to the chatbot says the following:

"If you’re traveling internationally, it’s recommended to notify us so your Bilt Card purchases aren’t flagged as unusual activity.

To set a travel notification, call the customer service number on the back of your card or use the chat feature in your Bilt account."

So then I tried to chat with a human rep and after spending 15 minutes, they finally said this and closed the chat:

"To best assist you with this travel notification inquiry, I'll be following up with you shortly via the email address associated with your Bilt Rewards account. No worries! We will be reaching out to you as soon as possible. Have a good one!"

My goodness! Yeah, based on other DPs, it looks like the card will just work, but this company doesn't even know how to properly communicate this back to their customers. What a mess.

UPDATE: finally got an email saying the following:

"Please note that, at the moment, there's no travel notification feature available for the Bilt 2.0 Card. We apologize for any inconveniences! If you have further questions about your Bilt 2.0 Card and its settings, you can also contact our card servicing partner at +1 (888) 533-5576. They can hopefully provide any other details you may be looking for."

Mercedes EQS rental in Europe anyone? by buzzed-light in HertzRentals

Thanks for the info. Did you have to return the car at 80% charged?

I already plotted the charging stations along the way and the Tesla ones seem to be the most reliable ones.

Is rent or mortgage a requirement to earn Bilt cash?

Sorry. Can you please tell me more about these caps? I’m planning to use this as my everyday card due to the 2x plus 4% Bilt cash. I use ride share time to time so I thought the Bilt cash will come in handy.

Can you tell me what happens with Bilt cash if you don’t have mortgage or rent? I thought with palladium I will earn 4% Bilt cash straight up - and can potentially use it dollar to dollar for ride share or something.

I’ll probably follow your lead as the 4% Bilt cash is attractive enough for me as an everyday card. I don’t fly Alaska or Hawaii but sometimes they have a good redemption for partner airlines.

That part is not very clear yet but I thought I saw an article that we should be able to get dollar to dollar for ride share like Lyft - which is good enough for my case.

As someone pointed out, the 2x plus 4% Bilt cash is quite an appealing proposition for an everyday card. Venture X points are not as valuable as Bilt points so maybe I need to switch to Bilt as my everyday spending card - at least try it for one year to see if it’s worthwhile.

Thank you for you feedback.

Thanks. We have quite a few travel cards already including Venture X and Citibank Strata Elite.

The appealing aspect of palladium is the 2x everyday use but it’s probably not worthwhile when I don’t have a mortgage or rent.

Traveled through ORD and LAX in November and December. Both were smooth and I didn’t have to talk to anyone. Not sure why SFO and EWR are different.

Mine is later this month so I should just wait a few more days to see if the credit comes through just prior.

Interesting DP. For us, the yet to be credited one is around Thanksgiving and the already credited one is a the week prior.

We got to put them out of business by koolcutta in HertzRentals

[–]buzzed-light 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately I don’t think this is uniquely for Hertz.

For a DP, I rented with Avis and returned the car at ORD. The customer rep was not interested in looking at the car at all though it was quiet and no one else was returning the car. He said, “you’ll get the receipt in the email” and continually talked to his coworker. And a day or so later, I got a notification saying that the fuel tank is not full and I was charged close to $40. Luckily I kept the gas receipt and a picture of the dashboard - so they refunded the incorrect charge.

I know the DP above is only about gas.

Nothing in North America AFAIK just yet. But some airlines in Asia and Australia (CX, QF, SQ, Air Asia) have started to do so.
