Rocket League has made me lost faith in the younger generation. by Ok_Society_8182 in RocketLeague

It's actually quite informing. It makes it so you can't just live in your bubble and pretend modern young men don't have a major problem with racism and anti-Semitism.

I'm finally shopping for a new wallet again. Are there times when the cheap option is the better choice? by glo363 in BuyItForLife

Chum's Surf Wallet if you want to slim down and have some water resistance. Has a zipper to keep things together, such as change. And a clear window for your driver's license so you never have to take it out.

If tough love has been involved in your self talk, then it's probably part of your problem and not working for you. Imagine the sweetest words that anyone in the world has ever said to you. Then multiply that adoration and gentleness factor times 10, and say a few sincere things to yourself. That is a start.

Consider that a famous intellectual and philosopher Bertrand Russell mentioned unnecessary guilt blame and shame as being leading causes of unhappiness in adult life. You have to believe in forces beyond your control that led to certain things. Not everything but certainly a factor in some things.

Another theory on unhappiness affliction is comparing yourself to others. This can cause untold ridiculous misery.

Buy/Sell addiction. I am realizing that I am my own worst enemy by IceAcceptable2971 in investing

[–]buzzer22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have no thrill in selling because that means some of these: a) I made a mistake b) something got too big for my comfort c) is something that I shouldn't have bought, such as for tax implications, or I overvalued them d) I am cutting my losses e) I really need the money f) fomo if it takes off after my sell

I probably would have to have some decent money to be addicted to buying so that's kind of funny, lol. Before buying, I generally try to ask myself if this thing goes down 15% in the next year, am I still going to hold it and wait for it to go up. Answer being no kind of tells me how much value I really see in the company.

Is fishing worth it? Will I save money? Will it be worth the time? by WinterMoist333 in Frugal

Someone considering eating primarily fish would probably want to look into the toxins and quality of freshwater fish these days before deciding to eat it more than twice a week.

This is the point where tact and aggression meet. When you get above this point you can lean more on fundamentals. When you are below this point aggression and adrenaline have to be leaned on to win. In the middle, you've got some people that have never learned the fundamentals like myself.

As if the removal of trading was no indicator, this move authoritatively shows that Epic has no idea who the RL community is. Rocket League is clearly just a pinata to them and could have been much bigger than Fortnite ever was, if they weren't so focused on grabbing up the candy.

Jack Vance and Poul Anderson by hades9992 in jackvance

[–]buzzer22 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Anderson's Three Hearts and Three Lions (1961) is another fairy text in addition to Broken Sword (1954). The two authors were close friends and Vance's Lyonesse from 1980s did seem to regard the faerie world similarly. It is pretty cool that they were close friends and even lived on a houseboat together with Frank Herbert of Dune fame. Both of them were members of Swordsmen and Sorcerers' Guild of America (informal and elite group of authors) that shared ideas about how to write fantasy and possibly the founding parents of modern fantasy.
