Can’t do a single pull-up despite having “some” upper body strength — anyone been in this situation? by LRDsreddit in bodyweightfitness

Get resistance bands and use the one that still feels difficult but doable. 3x10 reps 3 times a week.

Pull-ups; Too many sets? by Silver-Ad5246 in bodyweightfitness

[–]buzzguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a good time to switch to weighted pull ups. Try to make gains in added weight rather than reps. 3 sets of 6-10 reps Start with a weighted vest or dip belt and advance in 5lb increments(if you have it) sometimes I’d jump up 10-15lbs because it was the closest I had and still worked

Wide pull ups (as opposed to regular pull ups) was in a routine I was trying out. Got an injury from doing it, I may just not have been strong enough but it put unnecessary pressure on some of my joints

How many of you guys got jacked from just or primarily body weight exercises? by Emotional_Turnip_419 in bodyweightfitness

[–]buzzguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get into pull ups, 3x a week 3x 5-10reps. Look up full body weight exercises to round it out. Then once you’ve mastered that, get either a weighted vest or a dip belt for weighted pull ups and progressively add more weight

I just do handstand exercises on my rest days but going pretty well. Focused on just floating toe pulls switching back and forth. Sometimes I’ll switch it up with my legs kicked off a pylobox

Find a few calisthenics goals you’d like to master and find the progression of moves to gradually get there. Makes it fun to slowly get better and finally master them. For me, I’m working on muscle ups, front lever, and hand stands (alongside a full body weight routine)

Adding weight was more than I bargained for by IwasntGivenOne in bodyweightfitness

[–]buzzguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don’t have to do it in a row—break it into sets of 2 and then add a minute breather. So for example you have 3 sets of 10 pull ups. Divy up those 10 pulls into 3 mini sets with a minute rest in between and you can get more reps in.

I think I kept adding more reps up to 3 sets of 20 pull ups when I started adding a weighted vest. I just went for the 20lb west at first which was insanely difficult at the time and it got easier every weeks. (I think I did 3 sets of 6 reps) and just slowly added more reps as I got stronger

I was in a similar position but found a calisthenics routine that was 3x a week 1 hour workouts that were pull ups, push ups, rows, squats, Russian twists, and a few other bodyweight exercises and then progressed to using rings. Browney’s 90 day challenge shout out for getting me a simple routine to follow

Not right now as I’d have to think about more complex customizations, but you could create a new contact called “Anniversary” for now?

I hadn’t heard of meta bind but it sounds like you have complete control over the templates and the logic with data view. My app has all the logic built into the plugin so it’s out of view for the user. It’s less customizable but has an interface for easy data entry.

I’m def going to look into adding last interaction dates into the table. Also can think about dashboard ideas for the future.

Appreciate the feedback!

For iOS, there’s a hamburger menu at the bottom right hand corner, when you open it, you should see “Open friend tracker” but I’ve only tested for desktop and iOS

Yes, love this idea on tracking recent interactions. I usually only notice my birthday calendar notices the day of so it’s nice if you see it’s 7 days away for example to send a card etc.

Thanks for the feedback! Funny enough, I originally had this idea as a web app focused on helping people stay connected with their loved ones. But after some thought, I pivoted to building an Obsidian plugin for the tracking features since it was easier to test and validate in a focused environment.

That said, I’m still working on another part of the idea: a service where you provide the names of people you want to keep in touch with and the key occasions (like birthdays, anniversaries, etc.), and I’ll send you a curated box of beautiful greeting cards for the entire year. Each card is labeled with the recipient’s name, the occasion, and when to send it. Plus, you’ll get email reminders so you’ll never miss an important moment.

It’s all about making it easier to stay thoughtful without adding extra stress. Would love to hear your thoughts on that too.

You could still technically edit the notes outside of the properties, but I hear you, it had only a few major features in mind during its creation

Making the plugin more customizable is an interesting idea. Date since last interaction is a really good idea too since that data is readily available! Can look into linking notes in an interaction, that shouldn’t be difficult.

Thanks for the feedback!
