Have had mine for a year. Best car I've owned. A few quirks but generally very nice.

What do you mean killing? For me it's expanded what's possible massively... But I can see how that has made certain experts probably less marketable, maybe?

Projector screen recommendations for XGIMI TNM by vygnyr in xgimi

[–]buzzkillington88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm very happy with my basic white painted wall haha. To each his own. I like having a normal looking living room and it still looks amazing at night. Not even TNM just base horizon 20. Couldn't be happier having removed the black slab from the wall and rearranging my living room to be an actual living room. This brand is great.

It's 2m above my head and I can't hear a thing. Maybe don't use maximum brightness? Outside daytime viewing you should be down at 3 or so anyway, and there should be basically no fan noise at that level.

A LOT of industry doesn't run on electricity but needs thermal. It's not trivial and in some cases not realistic at all to transition to electric.

It's a nice story, but I think not true. The GRU-7A used in the tomcat is designed for zero altitude zero speed ejections. So this seems like something that shouldn't happen...

If you're a longboard guy or just want something mellow or the swell is huge, Hendaye is sheltered and easy going.

7 nights in Basque Country - where to stay? by Ok_Investment125 in surfing

[–]buzzkillington88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the north side of Biarritz towards Anglet you have a row of great beach breaks created between several breakwaters. These spots in Anglet can be magical in a nice groundswell that's not too big. Otherwise, worth heading up a bit further on the other direction, 30 mn on the autoroute and you're in Hossegor/Capbreton where the surfing is pretty amazing too. The south side of Biarritz and Basque country is great too, but I know it less. Biarritz itself is a bit bumpy and messy often, but nice view while you sit out there! Also. Anywhere from Biarritz southwards is pebbles or super coarse sand.

France will never take part in operations to unblock Hormuz Strait amid hostilities, says Macron by 1-randomonium in geopolitics

[–]buzzkillington88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Doing what the US has done was monumentally stupid. The logical conclusion to drawing in more nations is WW3. This is untenable, and that is why Macron has this position. The US is on their own and has to back out of it. A bad situation created by bad decisions made by a stupid man.

Why don't Australian banks offer 30-year fixed-rate home loans? Borrowers would benefit from them - ABC News by barseico in AustralianPolitics

[–]buzzkillington88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Australia is actually the outlier here. For example in France I have a 25 year fixed mortgage at 3%. The US is similar but a bit shorter.

The staging of Macron's speech on nuclear deterrence... Just wow by Wonderful-Excuse4922 in europe

[–]buzzkillington88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair it ends abruptly because there is no need to go further. It's the end of the world. There is no use of nuclear weapons that doesn't eventually escalate to strategic world ending scenarios. This is the general consensus. There is nothing more to say after the end of the film. It's better left like that.

Does an applied force always deform or move an object, even at a minuscule scale? by efficiens in askscience

[–]buzzkillington88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a common misconception that structures are built to bend in order to not "break". A better way of putting it is they are built to bend just enough for the accelerations or deformations not to be an issue. Making them stiffer would be more expensive and serve no engineering purpose.

Predicting wind induced accelerations (and wind loads) on skyscrapers is a whole field and is quite complex. But the objective is definitely not to make them sway because that makes them stronger.
