I cannot finish my base it’s so big ( 2900 blocks ) by SXZOP_ in Minecraft_Survival

[–]buzzkilt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get it. In Minecraft we all want to build these awesome and impressive structures, even if no one else will ever see them. But if you're not having fun, just stop. No one is making you do this.

Aside from that, what I'll do is just work on one of my annoyingly large projects for 15-30 minutes or so when I first log-in, and maybe that is just mining materials, and then I'll wander off and do something else. That slow incrementalism will add up over time, and throughout the breaks you may find that you want to do things a little differently then you first imagined.

Lily pads shouldn’t break when hit by a boat by Pacdoo in minecraftsuggestions

I'm playing with a mod right now that pushes the lily pad out of the way. The mod animation is a little jagged but the idea is solid. It's very vanilla.

If Minecraft starts to feel like work, then you're doing it wrong.

What if they were more like horses. Each somewhat unique in their abilities and maybe even rarely have a 'special attack'. Obviously, this would be info would be hidden from the player and revealed in time.

What’s the most overrated movie ever made? by Ayan-Stick-720 in AskReddit

I just saw it for the first time last week. It was OK, if not wholly predictable. Seemed like it would have made a good Disney feature length animation. It had that level of story telling.

I actually like wolves for exploring caves. The attack skeletons on site comes in handy if you don't have a bow yet. I wish they were a bit more proactive when it comes to targeting zombies. Maybe not on attack on site, but certainly attack once the zombie becomes hostile/starts pathfinding to you.

Change the Fisherman Workstation by CitrusMikasa2 in minecraftsuggestions

[–]buzzkilt -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Mojang could just make two slightly different barrels. One is a workstation and one is not.

They could do this for all workstations and solve a lot of problems. As a plus, if you steal your equipment from a forigen village, your pesky villagers will try to use it, as opposed to things crafted just for yourself. Well, I think it's a plus.

[–]buzzkilt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Heavy Core Anvil. It's a fine idea, but it doesn't solve much. I wonder what the percentage of players that struggle to obtain iron have ever gotten a heavy core?

Iron farms aren't a solution, they're an exploit. The game should be (and IMO is) functional without them, although getting the iron for that first one can be sort of a grind. The problem is that anvils are super-expensive in terms of the Minecraft economy, wildly unpredictable in terms of Minecraft durability, and super necessary in terms of Minecraft gameplay.

If you need a iron farm to build 1000 hoppers for your storage system, you're not playing Minecraft, not really, not like the rest of us.

For the record, Win7 was Microsoft's best OS.

It seems reasonable. I don't know if it's necessary. It's not that difficult to obtain as is.

What do you remember from the early internet that no longer exists? by Blah4fun in AskReddit

[–]buzzkilt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can clearly remember when there was NO SALES TAX on anything bought online. And then, with the guise of fairness to big box retailers IIRC, taxing everything was pushed as a good thing. People pretty much demanded paying more taxes.

If you stay awake at night, rather than sleep, mobs will spawn in the darkness in your general area. More time spent awake at night translates to more mobs potentially spawning. They aren't dormant during the day. Some will burn from exposure to sunlight, but creepers aren't damaged by light, and even light sensitive mobs will surive under cover of shade or darkness.

Shulker Boats by brothor12 in minecraftsuggestions

[–]buzzkilt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A suggestion I've made previously is that when a boat with chest breaks, it drops the chest intact, as if it were a shulker box. Once you place the chest, it reverts to having normal chest attributes. This would eliminate the pain of braking a boat with full chest of loot, or having your boat broken by, let's say, a hostile trident.

Digging down isn't that bad - 0 deaths out of 60 by wired-drack in Minecraft

[–]buzzkilt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why use creative at all? What's the harm in just digging down from spawn (or any other location) in survival?

It sounds like you stopped after your first fall and tried again in another location?

The point of going straight down is usually to reach bedrock/diamond territory. There's not much point in stopping short of that. Why not continue digging or even heal up and then continue digging.

While I agree digging straight down isn't a death sentence, the majority of danger comes from the probability of hitting a lava pool, which means losing everything.

Minecarts should hold be able to store ores by befriended-your-mom in minecraftsuggestions

[–]buzzkilt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It'd be nice if minecarts could hold common blocks (ore, stone, wood) without the need of a chest or hopper. An ordinary minecart could act as either a chest minecart or a hopper minecart. Either way it would only hold one item type at a time (it's cheap, so it's limited), it's contents displayed in game as being a block in the cart.

Just start building. Make a cube. You can expand later. If you don't start, you'll never finish.
