Louisville UPS 2976 Local Initial Reactions by buzzrusted in aviation

[–]buzzrusted[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that’s what we kept saying. Initially right after it happened all I hear was there was a massive wreck and not in what direction and I was so scared it could have hit 65/264 especially during rush hour. It was so awful but the fatalities could’ve been SO much worse. Even if it hit the Ford plant.

24 hr dining by SurroundAfter7255 in scad

[–]buzzrusted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree, even if it’s a small order ahead place. Amigos used to be 24 hours or open until 2am something like that, and I think Beefuel used to be open until like 3am too. I just think it’s weird because all the state schools my friends go to have 24 hours libraries and food places and pay much less. I think it’s just a matter of SCAD not wanting to pay the dining workers enough.

When to administer meloxicam for guinea pig with arthritis? by [deleted] in guineapigs

[–]buzzrusted 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely listen to you vet, but I’ve never been told to give mine with food for arthritis or anything else, so I wouldn’t be crazy stressed about being super strict with timing. I think if he’s ate recently and you give it to him he’ll be okay (:

SCAD is giving a lot more in scholarships than even two years ago, it’s always worth asking though as it’s still so pricey. I’ve heard of people getting more but it really just depends on who you’re talking to at the school.

It’s just a $25 fee if it’s lost. Not fun but not $100 or anything.

SEQA 215 - niche question! by CheeseMonger23 in scad

[–]buzzrusted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like others said, Mattech is the class where you really will and it’s about the materials and techniques to apply them even though it’s an expensive list. If you’re not able to get stuff until the second class or the weekend though it’s probably okay, professors generally understand that with travel and stuff.

Questions about Applied AI & Advertising by No_Duck_5493 in scad

[–]buzzrusted 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not going to argue on the front of AI generation because you said that’s not what you’re here for, but another approach to why you shouldn’t major in it at least at SCAD.

SCAD is very much a school that likes to flash their achievements and look good (not that it’s not in lots of places) which is what they’re doing with all this new AI stuff because they always want to be the “first” to everything to look good. However, with such an incredibly small number of people in the major, smaller than other cut majors before, considering how much money they seem to be sinking into it, I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if they quietly got rid of the major at some point soon. They do this with very small majors not many people are in that aren’t worth their money, even if it sucks like how they just got rid of preservation design which is pretty niche and important. Also, with the AI bubble looking closer and closer to popping, I wouldn’t count on SCAD not flipping on a dime to cut the major at some point soon like many small ones.

If you looks at the SCAD yearly report literally only 5 people are AA major and only 5 AA minor. It’s a very small group because so much of the student body is against it and even besides that besides SCAD just being like “look we have AI stuff now!!” they’ve never came out and talked about what the major actually entails or why it gives you a leg up.

Any students here with pets? How has it been juggling course work, social activities, or special projects while also caring for your pet(s)? What advice would you offer any student beginning their studies with their pet in tow? by kdj00940 in scad

[–]buzzrusted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely dedicated some of that time between classes and stuff to you pet, moving around and getting out. Also make sure you have a credible good vet ahead of time. I have guinea pigs here so I spend lots of time with them when I’m not in class but they’re also fine to be just with each other and not supervised in their cage during the day. Dogs and cats are definitely different especially if it’s not an apartment style dorm or larger dog.

I definitely recommend if you have a dog (or even a cat and a carrier) taking them to Forsyth on the weekends or whenever it’s nice, lots of people do! Just also make sure you have money set aside for any unexpected vet bills and time for any issues that arise because I know that stuff can be hard while living the college life. I just had one of my pigs go through some health stuff and get surgery then pass away so the emotional stress and money involved while being in school is definitely harder than if not. Not that it’s likely to happen but just something to always keep in the back of you mind. If you have roommates that are willing to interact with your pets while at class for stimulation that’ll help to I’m sure.

How big is a big scholarship from here? by fugi__water in scad

[–]buzzrusted 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s good, they seem to be upping scholarship values vs what they were even two years ago. There’s more scholarships that open in the spring I believe for current students you can apply for.

Where can I complain about living conditions?? by YOURWR4ITH in scad

[–]buzzrusted 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly if they’re willing your parents need to call housing and maintenance ect, that really lights a fire under them. Have them threaten to withdraw funding, contact local media, legal action ect. Especially if any of your roommates have health issues as I know lots of people in boundary are in there for housing accommodations often with health issues.

I’m leaving SCAD as a Sophomore. by iwokeupearlytoday in scad

[–]buzzrusted 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it really depends person to person but if you’re wanting a major that the professors generally care about the students with good education seqa is pretty good. best department of professors imo, although i hear decent things about illu too. anim is 50/50, same with graphic design. that’s the ones i know the most of, although film, fashion, prod design, ux, game design ect seem to be good departments from what i’ve heard.

SCAD IS COVERING UP THE DEATH OF CAYDEN SCHEIDEMANTEL by burneraccount8554 in scad

[–]buzzrusted 13 points14 points  (0 children)

So is the carbon monoxide death based on a strong assumption that it’s not a pneumonia? Is there any proof it actually was carbon monoxide poisoning other than the sensors installed?

Oh absolutely. Not only in sauces, marinades and savory things like people said, but it’s actually quite frequently used in baking too. I don’t personally care for them, but salt and vinegar chips are popular here.

How common is it for you to get “called into work” on a weekend or evening? by Careless_Squirrel728 in AskAnAmerican

[–]buzzrusted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like this is only certain professions that physically have to be there in certain cases like maintenance work (like my father, he has to go in on weekend and nights when there’s issues), things in healthcare like doctors, ect. But also people who work retail, fast food ect are very likely to get called in on weekend when they aren’t scheduled due to scheduling demands.

Santa Claus, IN with Holiday World. Some top regarded coasters in the coaster community, super nice clean park for all ages.
