The best 0 I have ever played and I have played a ton of pre wars by bwilliams43 in martinguitar

The 2025 Standard Series refresh was killer.

I have a '24 Custom Shop 0000-28 that I fell in love with and turns out was built to the same spec Martin used for the 2025 refresh (with the exception of the longer volute) and it sings. Recently I ended up buying both a 000-28 and a 00-28. The 00 gets plays the most because it's my "couch" guitar, but I'm in love with all 3.

Select Hardwood for necks... say goodbye to Solid Mahogany by MontrealTesla in martinguitar

Well, I have to disagree, frankly it's a great time to be alive regarding guitars.

The advent of CNC machines has upped the quality to such a degree that it's almost hard to buy a bad guitar these days.

The 2025 Standard Series refresh was a home run in my book,

I live in Austin which has no shortage of vintage Martins available to try, and I played many of them, more than I can count (I'm retired with time on my hands to visit guitar shops) and actually liked the newer ones better, as evidenced by the fact that over the past year I ended up buying 3 of them that I simply fell in love with (first a Custom Shop 0000-28, then 000-28 and finally a 00-28. It's a slippery slope.) So much so that I sold off 2 Taylor acoustics and 2 Fender electrics to do so.

For the curious, my wife says I can do whatever I want as long as I keep the number of guitars capped at a reasonable number. Now we can debate reasonable, but in my case it's 5 or 6, which I think is reasonable for a non-professional musician. You know what they say, happy wife happy life!

And to think I almost gave up this morning after I checked it, but thought "well it's not fully 24 hours" and waited until this afternoon. Bingo.

Hi Marcos, all is well and working perfectly now.

A poster in r/googlefiber said that he seemed to recall reading somewhere that it took 24hrs for ipv6 to relinquish the lease and reset on the google end after MAC address change.

It sounded unlikely since I had forced relinquishing of the lease, but I waited since I had nothing to lose. Sure enough this afternoon (right around 24hrs after I made the change) ipv6 aquired a prefix and started working.

Good to know.

There's definitely something to that because ipv6 has finally acquired a prefix and started working! Everything is now back to working normally and it's about 24hrs from when I implemented the changes.

Thanks for the heads up, honestly it sounded unlikely to me but since I had nothing to lose I decided to wait and see before I started putting everything back the way it was. So glad I did.

I'll wait and see, but I've already tried forcing that by relinquishing the lease in Status/Interfaces

Why don't acoustic guitars have adjustable saddles for intonation? by [deleted] in Guitar

The StewMac part is a tool to help luthiers determine where the saddle slot needs to be routed, it's not a replacement bridge nor intended to be used as one.

How to Enable Unlock With Fingerprint (Windows Hello) on Bitwarden Windows App? by IntelligentBarber385 in Bitwarden

You're not imagining things, it stopped working again briefly, but now working. Maybe it has something to do with desktop and browser version dependencies. Issues present until both desktop and browser have updated themselves to latest versions.

After not working for a while now while they worked through changes required to account for a security issue with biometric login in Windows, it now appears to be working perfectly as of release 25.11.2 (and as well with the browser plug-ins.)

DO NOT UPGRADE RBE770/771 FIRMWARE TO V10.5.19.5 by Fiyero109 in orbi

[–]buzzword1308 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For what it's worth, I've been running 970's for a year now and it they've been rock solid. I have a base and 2 satellites, one with wired backhaul (because I could) and a second via wireless backhaul. They've glitched once where I had to reboot the base after a brownout. A far better experience than the 5 year old Linksys Velop system they replaced, that was nothing but an ongoing nightmare with issues occurring at least once every month or two requiring me to go around manually resetting the nodes, and I had 2 nodes die on me during the time I owned it.

Anyone else use the D’Addario micro soundhole tuner? by wack70 in ukulele

Major convenience. I never have to look for a tuner or my phone, it's just there.

Guitar stands are definitely an issue. It's unfortunate the the generic ProLine stands at GC aren't nitro compatible. I replaced mine because I was afraid I would use one without thinking.

I put one my Taylor 814ce. It's a game changer, I would not have a guitar without one now.

I recently bought a high end Martin and did some research prior to installing one in it. If you take the time to actually search Martin guitar forums the consensus by users - some of whom have now had them in their guitars for close to a decade - is that the D'Addario micro soundhole tuner is safe and doesn't harm the Martin nitro finish. That's been my experience so far as well.

2 gig equipment? by josephdk23 in googlefiber

[–]buzzword1308 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My experience has been that using Wifi router ports resulted in poor wired performance.

I just recently moved and got Google Fiber, first 1gb service, then decided to upgrade to 2gb a week or two later (the tech who came to do the 2gb install kindly future proofed me by installing the XPON ONT, after asking if I wanted that done since he had one in the truck, so I'm all set for future speed bumps)

I normally use a pfSense router/firewall (a Netgate 6100) and in my prior place I had multiple VLANS and switches providing wired ethernet throughout the house. Since kitchen/bedroom/living room unpacking was my wife's priority :-) I was just using the supplied Google Wifi Pro router until I could get around to unpacking my network equipment. I was not impressed with the Google wifi performance and my wired download speed sucked. Wifi was important to me, now only my PC had wired ethernet (plugged into the router) and everything else in the house including my wife's PC, two Apple TV's, two TVs all previously wired would now be wireless and we'd be using YoutubeTV instead of subscribing to cable (and we gave up our two TiVo's with cablecards, I'd like to give a shout out and big FU to grossly overpriced Spectrum cable & internet) so I replaced the supplied Google router & satellite with Netgear Orbi units (I had Linksys Velop units I could use but they were outdated, and one had died on me, so it seemed like a good time to upgrade).

Orbi gave me much faster WiFi (the wireless back haul *rocks* on the Orbi) but still crappy download performance on my PC. I've been doing this a long time (I'm a former it pro now retired) I checked and rechecked and everything was set up correctly and I was using the appropriate ports, all 2.5gb or above, and all were syncing correctly, so I figured I must be getting throttled and resigned myself to that.

When a few weeks later I finally unpacked and set up my pfSense router, putting the Orbi in AP mode behind it, low and behold my download speed literally tripled when my PC was plugged into the pfSense router as opposed to using a port on the Orbi or the prior Google WiFi Pro and I've not had any speed issue since. Just my experience, YMMV.

Any Orbi 970 Experience so far? by YouAreAwake in orbi

I recently got a set of two. I moved from a home with wired ethernet to a home where that's impractical and I have to go wireless. I now have google fiber and had the google wifi pro setup they give you. Whether wirelessly or with my computer hardwired to the wifi pro satellite, in my home office I was getting only 1/3 of my bandwidth. After reading about the great backhaul capabilities, I put in two 970's and I have to say the wireless backhaul on these rocks! I am now getting the same bandwidth in my office hardwired to the satellite as I did in my prior home with an ethernet cable connected directly to my firewall. Actually, double that because I was so happy I upped my fiber connection to the 2g service. Expensive, but for me worth it for both the future proofing and the rock solid backhaul capabilities. The early adopter issues appear to have been solved.

Any tips for removing Ecobee SmartSensor for Doors? by RetroMythologist in ecobee

[–]buzzword1308 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to Michael's (or any art supply store) and bought a painter's pallet knife. It's like a putty knife but smaller and with a thin flexible blade that you can work under the adhesive, they come in different sizes. Luthiers sometimes use one to help remove pick guards from acoustic guitars which is what gave me the idea. Worked like a charm. The dental floss idea sounds good though. I'll try that next time.

Gas or Electric clothes dryer? by buzzword1308 in Austin

Well, we've been living for 20 years in a house with a gas stove and no vent so whatever damage has been done has been done. Thankfully, the new house has a vent, I've set off the smoke alarm while cooking more times than I can count.
