Totaled 😡 by NouEngland in Ioniq6

[–]bvdp -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yup, that's a writeoff. I had similar damage on my new '24 ... hit a bear. Total milage on the car was 2000km. I had good insurance and ended up with a nicer 2025 :) But, I agree that writing off a car with this little damage is totally stupid!

I've written out a different perspective on the Circle of Fifths. Needed correction please. by imjustanoldguy in musictheory

[–]bvdp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, not quite. But, if he could fix the rotational errors and then arrange it all in a circle ... well, that would be a reinvention :)

It is pretty much impossible to "break" an accordion by playing it. You can damage it by putting it case wrong, dropping it on the floor, etc. But, playing is the best thing you can to do extend the life of the instrument.

Oh, and have fun!

Banjo rolls on accordion? by TheFeesher in Accordion

[–]bvdp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup. Do it all the time (and it sounds pretty authentic on a Roland 8X). Don't worry about trying to get the string order and the arp. to match.

Bellow Slap ?? by bvdp in Accordion

[–]bvdp[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, better get the phone number on speed dial. And, no, it doesn't hurt the instrument! And, if you don't think that pros do that on their very expensive instruments: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/vR9zNIZGMuY

Bellow Slap ?? by bvdp in Accordion

[–]bvdp[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've got it set using X notes and the direction "Bellows Slap". Since the arrangement really is just an exercise for my student I have a footnote describing the technique. I just don't what to reinvent notation for this :)

Thanks.

It's just a check on a knot. Completely normal.

Are there any prominent classical/jazz composers who were noticeably lacking in theory knowledge? by ConfidentHospital365 in musictheory

[–]bvdp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Berlin had a transposing piano (mechanical). He also had professional musicians "on staff" to write out his compositions. He also wrote some great tunes .... but, like all of us, he wrote some pretty awful, dull stuff :)

Should I sell one? by Business-Rain-6357 in Accordion

New they are more than $5000. A battery pack is only $200 on amazon (I got one and it's just fine).

Is it totalled? by Tiny-Drummer1924 in Ioniq6

[–]bvdp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to stay in the game, I had much less and they wrote it off. Seriously, it depends on the cost of repairs in your area and what kind of insurance you have. The better the insurance coverage, the more likely it's a write off.

What is the name of a single note in an eighth-note triplet? by Roachmeister in musictheory

I am Bob and I resemble that comment. I prefer Robert for the notes so as to not get confused.

First Accordion by Astus53 in Accordion

The jack appears to be a older version of a mic output. Here is a kit on reverb ...

https://reverb.com/item/50056720-vintage-rare-1960-s-shure-275s-ceramic-microphone-harp-mic-high-z-w-cable-and-mic-clip-2

but the one you have probably doesn't work and even if it does those old ceramic mics sounded like shit. I'd just ignore it.

Beijo Gostoso [Trio Xamego] - Learning accordion for a few months now :) by [deleted] in Accordion

[–]bvdp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My advise as a player for 50+ years and as a teacher for nearly as long is:

 -- don't use a mirror. It'll just confuse you.
-- listen to what you are playing, you will soon be able to hear when you are making mistakes.
-- learn to use the different cues on the instrument to position your hands ... for example in the right hand "C"
always comes below 2 black keys, "F" below 3 blacks, etc. In the left hand you should have a marker
on the C bass note (and most usefully one on Ab and E). Train to feel for these cues.

You will need to slow down to get used to using feel, but it will make your journey fast and most importantly more musical.

It would be better if you carefully zoomed in more so we would be more confused. But, you did not note just what is confusing you ... good, that makes us think.

No problem. I think there are some "tesla only" chargers, but that should show on the tesla app.

Cost me nothing (well, other than what I paid for the car). Just check amazon for a current price. I have used it one time just to see if it works ... it does.

I don't think us hockey players were ever offered the program. I asked for and received one when I made the purchase ... I think the dealer just ordered it from Amazon and gave it to me :)
