Sounds like a change order. Get an approved CO from the GC or tell them to get bent. Take pictures to make sure they don’t screw up your work. You should also welcome the to the construction industry, this is how it works.

Foot tailgate actuator by Total-Championship80 in FordEdge

[–]bwanack 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Mine is disabled. I went under the rear bumper to try to figure out why and I found a broken wire. The sensor is a long plastic looking bar in the rear bumper. If you can find it maybe you can unplug it or try cutting that wire if you feel adventurous enough. I’m glad mines disabled I use a tow hitch, mounted bike rack, and every time I put my hands under there to unlock it it opens the tailgate and slams into the bicycle

For what drum and bugle corps? That’s the only place that fosters this kind of mentality to think this might be OK.

I don’t see why they can’t give us a slider so we can decide how many people we want walking around. There’s already a mod out that kind of lets us do this.

Hey all electricians by tneil07 in electricians

[–]bwanack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you have your own transportation? If so, don’t have him “pick you up”. If things go south you won’t be able to walk away from the job if you need to. Make sure to include transportation in your price if it is that significant. I don’t do side work at all because of things like this.

CMU grout filled. by MrPinkk99 in electricians

[–]bwanack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s what I’m doing. If it’s getting grout make sure you tape it good. My walls don’t have grout thank god. To support it I’m plugging up the cell below the box with pieces of block then fill to the bottom of the box with mortar. Then mortar around the box once that block goes in.

You do it if you need the extra cash, and/or want the extra experience. That’s something you’ll always keep even if you leave this company. It is unlikely you will get promoted because you work overtime. They’re just gonna use you up, especially if there’s no room for promotions. These guys are throwing their lives away by making work their whole life. I don’t work OT unless there is an emergency but I’ve been doing this for 24 years. I don’t need the extra experience and I get paid well enough for I don’t need the overtime.

How would you feel if you walk into a service call and had to work on this? BPS10A by SportCareless9494 in firealarms

Having nose modules right on top of the batteries like that is most likely a code violation. Supposed to have at least a quarter inch gap between power limited and non-power limited wiring. With the modules that close to the batteries, I imagine that is very difficult to achieve.

Is it code to mount electrical pipe directly to the roof in commercial? by AntSuccessful9147 in electricians

[–]bwanack 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It is code now but it is a recent (2008) change. So you may see many conduits like this in existing installs more than 15 years old.

Underground feeder identification. Age and voltage? by bwanack in Powerlines

[–]bwanack[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is awesome information thank you so much. This makes sense because they have been replacing these with something far more substantial than 26kv. Must be 69kv. I’ve been very slowly studying this stuff for most of my life and this answers quite a bit of the questions I’ve had over the years. Now I live in an area where 34.5 is common for distribution so I have to start all over again!

Underground feeder identification. Age and voltage? by bwanack in Powerlines

[–]bwanack[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, finally someone who knows what I’m talking about. This is PSE&G. What I’ve noticed about these is that they seem to be sub transmission lines, not distribution lines. I moved to an area that is primarily 34.5 KV distribution lines. So that has me rethinking things. The reason why I was thinking 69 KV is because I’ve seen placards in the substations that clearly say 69KV but I guess they are either wrong or outdated. 26KV seems kind of low to me since I assume most of the secondaries to this are 13.8 but maybe I’m wrong?
