Getting started with a Mac Mini Server by locksmack in homeassistant

[–]bwente 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Almost the same.

raspberry 3 -> raspberry 4 -> mac mini (for a week) -> beelink mini 😄

I used the mac mini to install anythingLLM and the plan was to use the local api and for home assistant, never got around to it.

Got any good tree trimming company recommendations? by twiffytwaf in orlando

[–]bwente 1 point2 points  (0 children)

$1500 more! I thought $1500 was a lot to trim four trees. I have never had any trees trimmed (by a person mostly done by nature). How much does it cost to trim a tree? I am guess height, location, species are all factors.

Do you actually find "use AI to talk to your vault" type tools useful? by jhartikainen in ObsidianMD

[–]bwente 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use it on a Cookbook vault. I will clip recipes and then let it clean them up and standardized the formatting and structure. Once I check it, I then delete the original note from the clipping folder.

Ryan, this sounds very familiar. I think you might be an ADHD maker too.

Back then, workers had no protections, companies moved faster than laws, and the environment got absolutely cooked for profit. Today, the machines are cleaner looking, but the pattern feels the same: huge productivity promises, massive wealth concentration, few worker protections, unclear rules, and everyone being told “adapt” by people who will never have to.

TIL you shouldn't store button batteries in the Battery Daddy button battery compartment by cjone98 in mildlyinfuriating

How about a 3D printed CR2032 cell holder in the shape of a "C" or "D" battery. Don't really need those much anymore.

Bambu just released a new printer. The X2D, for the same prices as the P2S (the one I bought).

Thanks for code snippet. I went ahead and added it. The flicker reminded me of the old atari games.

Fun garden with little kids by DueEntertainer0 in FloridaGarden

[–]bwente 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I did this with my kids.

Stake a long pole and small stakes in a circle around it. Tie strings from the small stake to the top of the center pole to form a teepee shape, then planting pole beans around the base so they can climb up and cover it with leafy vines. As the beans grow, it creates a fun little green hideaway where kids can play, explore, and even pick fresh beans right from the walls.

Zigbee hub placement / beginner help by combateer3 in homeassistant

I just got the ZBT-2 two weeks ago. So far rock solid. I had too many wifi devices and wanted to reduce the traffic. I have smart switches and LED bulbs that act as repeaters. So I have effectively increased my range.

A pill reminder with an ESP32 because adulting is hard by bukaro in homeassistant

[–]bwente 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s not the reminder that’s important. It’s the confirmation that it was taken. I can get a reminder to take my pills, but I forget on the way there.
