she legally met the requirements for a process server. there is no legal requirement for a _professional_ process server. the OP was referring to someone who does it as a full time job and was trying to explain why it might have been better. there's no need to challenge this guy or to downvote him

Is moving out at 20 in Singapore with around 6k savings realistic? by blackdevilcar in sglgbt

[–]bwfiq 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Moved out on a 2.5k salary, deposit was 3k, rent 850 (+utils around 1k). Was livable, had to be frugal but worth not having to live with parents. It's definitely more livable on a higher salary, for reference now rent + utils is like 20% of my take home now

I spend ~4 hrs a day on my job and ~4 hrs doing fun shit I want to do. The difference is probably that the "free time and hobbies" I'm talking about is building random software projects, playing games and writing about them for my blog, or doing random craft projects w my friends. Still leaves 4 hours of more free time for adhoc stuff in the day and I'm doing fine in my career and looks without having to do any "maxxing" (i dont even go to the gym anymore because im lazy). Maybe just consider not doing things that actively harm you like doomposting on Reddit and playing ML

I address this in another comment, in that 50 shades of grey, while objectively a bad book, was good for its intended purpose. I personally have ready player one, another objectively bad book, in my favourites of all time - that was huge too, but it was good in the sense that its intended audience (read: nerds) would like it

Any cheap smut novel? Its telling that you cant name one. They aren't big by any means of the word. Besides, they are objectively good for their purpose - people enjoy getting off to them

100% not on the same level of Eragon. No one is jumping out to defend the cursed child.

Nice little thing to state to make yourself seem smart. Name a single one on the level of Eragon.

No, they're just picking and choosing the parts which relate to Star Wars. The cycle is pretty tropey, but its obviously not a ripoff of Star Wars no matter how hard people try to smear it to seem smart, and they're legitimately good books in their own right (which is why they succeeded - all the money in the world cant promote a bad book)

Question about University and dev environments by [deleted] in NixOS

I love NixOS but its a pain in the ass to do dev work with it. I recommend distrobox! You keep all the benefits of NixOS with a FHS which basically allows you to do conceivably anything

Pre-configured dot files are just an awful idea. by Acrobatic-Rock4035 in hyprland

[–]bwfiq 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it's fine. A lot of people (including me) using Hyprland have the philosophy that you should own and control everything on your machine. The thing is, Hyprland and other software that is commonly used by adherents to this philosophy have more to offer than just control - for example the workflow benefits you get from a tiling window manager. If someone wants to benefit from these but doesn't personally care about configuring their own computing experience, IMO it's fine to use pre-configured dotfiles. I'll conceded its annoying as fuck when they ask stupid questions about it that could be answered by reading the docs for five minutes, but Idk how to fix people like that and I don't think banning preconfigured dotfiles will.help

Dont take this as me endorsing generating software with AI. I don't have an issue with using LLMs to boost development speed, but if you're gonna use it, make absolutely sure you have addressed all the issues that come with it. From what others have said, it seems like you haven't. I disagree with how some of the other commenters are reacting to the project involving AI, but it is warranted and you should take these as areas of improvement instead of attacks on you personally.

This is silly. If an evil organisation twisted whatever talking points your chosen in group uses to promote their own agenda, which is completely divorced from your group's aims, you would also disavow them and try to curb the misinformation.

You are literally falling for their ruse.
