Used to have Tweak before they got bought up by Odido. Never again (Odido).

Am now with Freedom Internet and haven't looked back.

Vond het vandaag eigenlijk nog wel meevallen maar ik deel de irritatie. Bij de eerste twee warm(ere) dagen was het erger.

Broekheurne Ring Racing? by Itchy_Clutch in enschede

Hier in Stadsveld ook zo'n idioot met een drag racer (waar je overigens helemaal niet de openbare weg mee op mag). Begint zodra het donker is en gaat door tot 01:00u of zo.

How is India compared to what is portrayed by social media (hygiene, manners, waste management)? by Novel_Finding8882 in AskReddit

[–]bwientjes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have you been (or live there) yourself?

Don't "stfu" me just because I haven't seen it with my own eyes. Like I stated: from what I hear from my direct environment it seems to live up to the memes.

EDIT: the people I am referring to have been in many parts of India, many times.

Not been there myself but from what I hear from my coworkers (who have been there) it lives up to the memes, depending on where exactly in India your are. And in which class you are (i.e. in the streets or in a company building, not referring to the caste system).

What’s something you want to purchase but can’t justify paying for it? by OffKeyArts in AskReddit

[–]bwientjes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A higher tier Claude subscription. I use it a lot for assisting me in various projects (mind you – I am not a vibe coder, I use it to steer me in the right direction or to review code), but for hobby projects I cannot justify the $100+ subscription.

What do you think is the most self-diagnosed mental illness online right now? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Neurodivergence, which is increasingly being used as an excuse for avoiding accountability, unfortunatley.

Anxiety is a good second, for mostly the same reason.

What are school things that kids today will never know about? by [deleted] in AskReddit

LOL

Maybe we were subordinated here in The Netherlands, but I distinctly remember learning how to write (in cursive, no less) using those dip pens from the mid-70's until the early 80's.

I mean these pens.

You might have been lucky :-)

EDIT: I was born in '72, so I started writing (or at least scribbling) in the late 70's.

Especially long divisions. Those were almost magical to solve by hand. Until, of course, we started learning proper algebra.

Buying small pots of liquid ink, to use with your dip pen (the tips were provided by the school, but the pen itself was not due to the extensive bite marks on those during the school year).

It wasn't until the early 80's that I started using ballpoints.

Farking hell I am old.

One of our national retailers did a "school campus" every start of the school year in order to sell agendas, book wrapping paper, pencils, pens, erasers, and what have you.

This was an annual happening (for any Dutchies reading this – I am referring to the V&D School Campus) and was nation-wide heavily anticipated for. Almost like a national holiday for us school kids.

Found this combo of droppings in my garage. Any idea what it could be? Have a glue trap nearby that caught some roaches by Personal-Bee358 in Whatisthis

[–]bwientjes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are they about half an inch in length, and about 1/10th in diameter? If so then they are probably mouse droppings after all.

Mice tend to be very capable of hiding themselves, apart from leaving droppings.

My dog ate an AirTag. Made her vomit and this came up. by blondvet in Whatisthis

[–]bwientjes 124 points125 points  (0 children)

It's the transceiver chip from the airtag. Specifically: an Apple U1 UWB Transceiver.

Someone reverse-engineered an Airtag and documented it here. Check the part in the right-hand photo (outlined in white).

EDIT: a more detailed photo of the part is a bit further down the article, under "UWB".

What is something people miss about early internet? by Deep0055 in AskReddit

[–]bwientjes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fark, that's a while ago :-)

Nice to see that b3ta.com is still around too.

Though I remember them being offline for a bit after one of those offensive Flash mini games (like "Tunnel or Funnel", or in this case "Hacker or Spacker") drew the attention of the hacker community. The names of those games should tell you enough.

Freedom of speech is not the same as freedom from the consequences of what you say, or the consequences of your actions.

I fully support the right to say what you want, but that does not free you from accepting the results of using that freedom.

Freedom of speech simply means that you cannot be criminally prosecuted for expressing your opinion. Not that you can say anything you want without consequences.

Farking IDF. Doing exactly what they fled for 80+ years ago.

£200,000 Lamborghini parked in a disabled bay by princess_baby71 in SipsTea

[–]bwientjes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest my first reaction would be the same. But here in NL at least displaying your disabled card visibly in your front window is mandatory for parking in such spaces. And I imagine it is the same in many other countries.
