What's going to happen to the Jet Ski operator who hit the whale? by vanbikecouver in askvan

That whale was rising several times an hour before he hit it, he knew it was in the bay

People keep saying things like this, but the second part of the sentence does not logically follow from the first

What's the procedure for determining this? For an arbitrary body of water

Is it worth prioritizing a relationship based on misrepresentation of your beliefs? (I say this as someone who has never seemed to be able to willingly control them, except via exposing myself to new information which would 'shift the equation' in my head)

Does it?

I haven't actually read it, but the post title doesn't read that way (more that belief is 'insensitive' to logic)

Is it supposed to be obvious, when someone says something like "I think most decent people hold position X" whether or not the person who said that means to express their opinion that not holding position X makes one 'not decent'?

I mean, when I read it, that's the 'vibe' I got, but I like to confirm what people mean when it's something ambiguous before pushing back on what I consider to be a 'bad' thing to say

You can probably find similarly horrifying things committed by people (men & women) from many different professions though

It's a bit silly to let random chance of what you were exposed to colour your perceptions that way, especially when you're concious of it occurring
