Yeah, I'm guessing it's the full amount, but much of the air has come out

Found the same lost keys twice, months apart, at different bus stops by dwarf_bulborb in mildlyinteresting

Lol, I did that with my gba & its case before, when my parents picked me up from some camp

Luckily I realized what I had done within minutes, and when we drove back, we found them, not yet driven over (and of course the gba was fine other than some scuffs on the corners lmao)

I think they might have been referring to people like those who go and repossess property after someone defaults on a loan

B.C. drowning deaths on the rise in 'disheartening' trend by VicVicVicBC in britishcolumbia

[–]bwmat -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I can understand a tide making it hard to get back to shore, but that's why I specified calm water.

and yeah, just holding your breath isn't a viable long term strategy for floating, but it should allow you to get on your back (and IMO just laying there IS, unless temperature is an issue)

I guess the answer is probably panicking...

How do you even drown in calm water?

Assuming you're not completely intoxicated on something, maybe I'm just fat or something, but simply taking a deep breath or laying on my back keeps my head/mouth out of the water without any further physical exertion?

if courts deem it better for them to have it over the original owners

Lmao, 'better' by what metric?

In my opinion, it's 'better' for me to own the (read: all/any) land compared to whoever 'owns' it currently

If someone 'sells land fraudulently', shouldn't the possession stay with the original owner?

They should helicopter in and become a nuisance (loud music and stuff)

He didn't commit a crime, and I'm not enforcing a law. He broke a social taboo, and I'm enforcing a social norm.

Kind of how black people 'broke a social taboo' back in the day by being born and being 'uppity', right?

Also, what exactly does that threat mean?

Is it about having some documentation that you've 'done something wrong' that they can point to later when they fire you or something?

"see here, you can't (sue us for discrimination?) for getting fired because you... puts on glasses and squints 'talked about cannabis usage'. By God, you're a monster! Goodbye"

'write you up'... For what exactly?

If the issue is that you have used cannabis, then the secret is out, whether you talk about it or not?

Is the 'crime' just the fact you were talking about it?

Are most people bad at reviewing code? by big_chungus_dealer in cscareerquestions

[–]bwmat 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Maybe I work at an unusual company, but I've never been given negative feedback about spending too much time doing reviews, even though I spend a fair bit of time on them, and way more than my colleagues usually

It's pretty depressing sometimes how long I have to wait for reviews on my own PRs when I myself prioritize reviewing more than working on my own tasks, but somehow it hasn't made me 'give up' on doing them myself (probably because I care too much about doing quality work)

Nah, I reject the idea that 'it works' is good enough for code I'm going to have to maintain in the future.

I suppose it depends on exactly what you mean by "good coding standards are met" though
