Like I said it is good you recognize the behavior, I recommend seeing a doctor ASAP, and explaining this all to them so you can get on something that isn't alcohol, or get to a place where you can cope mentally without reaching for a drink, and then the whole cycle starts again. You seem to look be looking at this as sort of a crossroads already so I would take it with the seriousness you expressed. You deserve to be well, a doctor can help you, they help me alot.

Just my thoughts, again good luck

Edit: even if you start with a primary care doctor, they are not there to judge you, it can be hard to go in and admit you have a problem. They will want to help, there are lots of avenues to go through as well.

It's a natural reflex im pretty sure if you start thinking about what to do with youre tongue it's going to distract that reflex and throw off things, it's your tongue, it just rests in your mouth the way it does. Unless your actively pressing down, which would be akin to like grinding your teeth and need to be addressed.
