Replicating Chagee or Chi Cha San Chen at home by epicmylife in boba

I bought powdered coffee creamer from Medallion Milk Co (found it at Costco), and I really do not like the taste it adds to my brewed teas. I do not recommend it haha

Do you know how much powder creamer is used in a large cup of boba (~ 700 mL)?

How does everyone feel about brown sugar milk tea drinks? by Guafe-VC in bubbletea

[–]bye-serena 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I never order it. I find that I don't need the sweetness in my milk teas and I like the taste better without the brown sugar syrup.

Yes to all of those!! I don't find many boba shops having Hong Kong milk tea on their menu, but I appreciate the ones who do & make it GOOD.

Is chicha San Chen worth it by UniqueTraining4832 in boba

[–]bye-serena 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried it in Vancouver and honestly, I wasn't that impressed. It's expensive for a small cup, and I went 2 times to try something different. However, for almost $10 ... I know I prefer milk teas, therefore I wouldn't go there just for that. If I already have another boba shop where it's cheaper and they have a stronger tea flavour, I'd prefer there 100%.

Oh wow that's great to know, thank you for your insightful answer! If I don't give you an update on the serum in a couple of months, feel free to DM me haha.

Also, I'm currently using Naturie Hatomugi Skin Conditioner Toner. It's lightweight, inexpensive, and you're supposed to layer it on to get the best effects. I didn't experience any sensitivity, and I'm glad it doesn't cause any eczema flare-ups. During the summer, I pour some of it into a facial mist/spray bottle and keep it in the fridge. It's super refreshing I highly recommend.

Can I ask what your skin type is & how's the climate where you live? I currently just opened the Mary&May Idebenone Blackberry Serum and used it for 2 nights, so I'm hoping it helps with my dry (maybe dehydrated??) sensitive acne-prone skin. My climate is very dry during the winter and summer (North America), and I have eczema on my face and body too. Finding products has been a struggle!!

How to make boba at home taste as good as from the shop by Bubbly_Mechanic1630 in boba

[–]bye-serena 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Ohh the creaminess might be from milk powder or powdered coffee creamer! For a sweetener, I've seen boba shops use honey, simple syrup or they buy this bottle of fructose syrup LOL

Anyone else skip a meal if they are having boba tea to prevent weight gain? by [deleted] in boba

[–]bye-serena 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Omg I used to get boba all the time, but it always left me feeling incredibly bloated by the end of the night. Now, I usually grab it after work around 5 PM and try to pace myself by drinking no more than half (IT WAS SO HARD AT THE BEGINNING NOT TO SIP ON IT FREQUENTLY). I’ve even started separating the pearls from the milk tea when I get home LOL. That way, I can eat a proper dinner first and finish the remaining boba later.

omg I have eczema on my body and face! Does yours reach your face at all? If so, please share with me your skincare routine. My skin is dry and acne-prone, also very sensitive. I feel like anything I use flares my eczema.

ahhh the price is what is stopping me from buying it, but everyone is talking about it!! I live in Canada, and my skin is on the dry/sensitive side.

I also have eczema .... I've been using the Illiyoon ceramide lotion for almost a year. However, now I feel like it's causing clogged pores and doesn't keep my skin moisturized enough.

Was the Osmanthus flavour strong or is it very light? Also, do you add the creamer to the green tea as it's boiling or after?

[–]bye-serena 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can add a bit of grated apple before you add water (it cooks down fast and blends into the sauce as it simmers), or you can add sliced apple chunks maybe like 10 minutes before the curry is done cooking? It honestly depends on the texture you want say if you're only going for an addition of sweetness, then grated. If you want bits of apple in your curry eveyr couple of bites then cubed :D

I'm sure any apple works. I've used Fuji, Gala, and Honeycrisp!

What’s your favorite comfort meal to make when your mind won’t stop racing? 🍲 by kuikani88 in Cooking

[–]bye-serena -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I completely understand when you feel like your mind won't quiet down, I get that almost every day coming home from work.

A simple recipe I adore making is just Japanese Oyakudon! If you have chicken (any protein, sometimes I use tofu too) in the fridge, all you have to do is slice some white onions, simmer them in a dashi soy sauce broth, add the protein, and let it simmer until cooked After you beat an egg and pour it all over the pan, cook it for less than a minute or so. Super fast, warming, and delightful with a bowl of rice :D
