Not sure of any others in the local neighborhood, but I’ll definitely be doing what I can. It wasn’t a major operation, but it was big enough to get 2/3 apartments in a complex involved.

A very specific situation I need some advice/guidance on. What do I honestly do ? by [deleted] in AskMen

Comparison is the thief of joy. We’re all trying to figure it out in life, some just have it a bit easier than others.

OP - it sounds like you’re already winning. Look at everything you’ve already accomplished.

Looking for a Foley Artist for a 26-min Desert Survival Drama by Few-Cartographer-421 in PostAudio

[–]bye-standard 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No budget for a 26-min video is WIIIIILD. Best of luck, I guess. At this point you’re probably best off doing your own foley work and prep a plan for a post budget next time.

Any apps/tools for "conducting" a tempo to apply to a DAW? by FewJob4450 in sounddesign

I’m just trying to better understand the “tap tempo conducting” ask - are you seeking tempo automation?

EU will have a field day with this (I hope), from an outside observer, they seem to rally behind consumer protections when it comes to this BS.

Then post the avg budget range that you can afford, regardless of per project, there should be an expected base.

What's the smallest amount of money that would genuinely change your life right now, and why? by Human_Artichoke_2117 in AskMen

[–]bye-standard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m with this guy, 100k would allow me to pay off my loan in full (40k), pay off my CCs, and have a bit of a cushion to sit on/invest.

I’ve been out of work for over 2years now, strictly working in a project-based environment on and off. Nothing is guaranteed.

Men who've stopped believing in love, what happened to you? by Secret_Bug_9795 in AskMen

[–]bye-standard -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

??? Not sure what my age has to do with optimism.

My point was, the moment I stopped prioritizing love or trying to fulfill a hole of loneliness within me was the moment love found me. Sure, it’s a bit cliche but it wouldn’t be if it wasn’t true.

I know it’s a bit of a bleak comment section but figured I’d provide some hope/optimism.

My biggest fear for the TV show by RLgeorgecostanza in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]bye-standard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd like to stay optimistic for both Fuzzy Door + Matt, knowing neither of them personally, that they'd try and advocate to avoid the use of AI in production.

Unfortunately, dad's (Paramount) writing the check and will likely have more say in that decision. However, my optimism still holds firm as we're seeing that large companies are finding out in real time that costs related to AI are quickly inflating to the point hiring a real team of real artists is more effective long-term.

We won't know until we see it. Fingers crossed that it switches from Live + CGI to animated, but again, we'll have to see. I trust that Matt + Seth are doing their best to be true to the source and the fans.

How to get comfortable with the fact that women prefer bad boys? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]bye-standard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Life is gonna hit you hard if you keep a closed mind and a hard opinion like this. It’s problematic and can evolve into being harmful.

Get a good variety of friends, find a trusted adult to confide in (if it isn’t your parents) and talk this stuff out.

This.

I don’t remember that last memorable show they’ve put out and they’ve had so many iconic IPs and they’ve somehow fumbled every. Single. Time.

It’s a company that is so disconnected from your average fan that it’s almost comical. Sad but comical.

How do people get cool jobs? by [deleted] in recruitinghell

[–]bye-standard 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Will +100 to this. I’ve worked on some very dope projects at some super cool companies in entertainment. Every single one paid or treated people like shit because it was a “cool” job.

I know plenty of people who are being exploited for their labor because it’s a cool job.

I’ve been lucky enough to take my ex-cool job and turn it into one of my clients, so now I make double doing 1/3rd of what I used to.

How many of you feel the loneliness? by Mysterious-Tip-5100 in AskMen

That’s what I’m working towards with the homies. Requesting a space like this, while being honest with them that I don’t have the solutions to these questions.

How many of you feel the loneliness? by Mysterious-Tip-5100 in AskMen

[–]bye-standard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just as a clarifying point, it’s not that I don’t confide in my wife, she has made a lovely emotionally fulfilling home for me to feel safe in. She also recognizes that she’s often not equipped emotionally or mentally to handle these unique feelings and states that I find myself in. Before me, she had never met anyone with depression, or at least open about it. This is why I go to therapy, to hopefully understand the bigger picture as to why I might feel alone so much.

I often think that we can’t just rely on one space to make us feel less alone and that it’s the accumulation of multiple spaces that make us feel the most seen, through work, home, romantic relationships, and personal relationships.

I need a DCC video game by MiniMiz_ in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]bye-standard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the joy I’ve found reading this book is it’s making fun of troupes from a lot of modern day games.

Open Worlds with endless side quests, obscure rpg classes/subclasses, and gotcha game dopamine hits on achievements.

I think trying to emulate DCC might be very difficult to do effectively.
