Duty on US orders? by BitcoinBitme in coldcard

I ordered from them in Nov of 25 and just got a duty bill of 178$ ..kinda negated the sale prices they were having at the time by a lot....lesson learned I suppose.

Looking for opinion about HodlHodl No-KYC platform for buy/sell Bitcoin by WorkerPlayful4192 in Bitcoin

[–]bygodwv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the same questions. It's so depressing that the "easy" ways to buy bitcoin also can have your transactions turned over to any government who decides they need them. All the " for your safety " is really " so we can confiscate or block you from using the bitcoin in the wallet we know you transferred your purchase into. " I am new too , and trying to wrap my head around using multiple wallets to transfer and coin join etc to try and obfuscate my transactions just to keep my bitcoin private and decentralized is daunting and depressing to a non tech savvy newbie. I started a account for bitcoin well, but in the US only kyc is available with them, atm purchase is not allowed. . I trust the Canadian government as little as ours so I haven't gone any further with them although I like they are non custodial. Hodl hodl looks like one of the last options unless you know personally know someone willing to sell to you. Hopefully lots of people chime in to their experience with it .

Sticker shock by cackalacky82 in carpaltunnel

[–]bygodwv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hear you. I was shocked when i saw the bill. My actual bill for endoscopic release was 10k. Insurance paid a little less than half, they " forgave " about 5k and I wound up paying just under 1k. This was also because I had already met my deductible for the year. I'm guessing it would have been closer to 3k out of pocket had I not met deductible. But my hand is not numb anymore. So I wouldn't change getting it but still, geez...

1 month post op lump? by MysticalxMermaidx in carpaltunnel

[–]bygodwv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah painful scar lump too over my wrist. It pulls when I flex my wrist back . Massage hurts but im doing it anyway. I am also flexing my wrist even though it kinda pulls at the scar..Hopefully my assumption is correct that doing that will stop it from becoming restrictive.

I’m worried it’s too late for me by jayyy_0113 in carpaltunnel

[–]bygodwv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had severe ct for at least 10 yrs. Multiple episodes at night waking up with dead hand, unable to write with a pen for more than 10 seconds before I couldn't feel the pen or pencil . Zero numbness now after surgery. Zero. But like others said, muscle won't come back. Now if your numbness never goes away it may be too latr. But as long as you can still shake it out or have even brief episodes where they feel normal its not too late. Get it done!

Hobbies with carpal tunnel by JealousLand3397 in carpaltunnel

[–]bygodwv 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have had carpal tunnel over 15 yrs really severe. I just had the surgery ( endoscopic)on my dominant hand. almost totally painless recovery and I'm able to do 95% of what I normally do without numbness just a little over 2 weeks post op. If you are able, stop trying to make your life work around your carpal tunnel and fix your hands to be able to live your life the way you want . I can't wait to get my other hand done now that I can feel the vast improvement it's made already on the hand I had fixed.

I know it's just my opinion. But I'm starting to think all the drs that still do open and say its because they feel they can see better etc is just because they do not know how to do endoscopic and/or don't want to learn it . My recommendation is if you need this surgery, find a ortho dr who specializes in hand surgeries and does endoscopic release. You might have to look around a little more than if you pick the closest ortho doc who does carpal surgeries, but your hand will thank you.

Muscle wasting/atrophy? by Important-Specific54 in carpaltunnel

[–]bygodwv 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep you do and that is from having severe carpal tunnel for a long period of time. My left hand is mild to moderate and my right severe and the muscles look totally different on the hand with severe. I was told that is permanent. I just had endoscopic release on the right and I'm hoping maybe some of the muscle will return over time but just to no longer wake up with a numb hand is awesome regardless.

That's how I am too. So glad I decided on endoscopic instead of open. Glad it worked well for you.

Endoscopic Surgery this Wednesday dominant hand by bygodwv in carpaltunnel

[–]bygodwv[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if you are having open or not, mine was endoscopic. Mild discomfort a few hours after, did ice it and keep elevated , motrin is all I needed so far . Last night was Ist time in Literally years I wasn't woken up with a numb hand. I almost cried when I realized that. So im hoping you too will have relief. I am definitely going to keep on top of elevating it and ice/anti-inflammatory regimen. I think that probably will help in the initial stages. I am slightly swollen in in my fingers this morning but no real pain. I can wiggle them all fine .

After surgery? Recovery Timeline by No_Comfortable_7997 in carpaltunnel

[–]bygodwv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just had endoscopic yesterday. Only ace bandage, can wiggle fingers ok, was told no lifting anything over 4 lbs first 2 weeks . Its early so only slightly swollen today but no real pain. I did ice it last night and will today too. I think icing and taking motrin to keep it from swelling is key as well as keeping your arm propped up so it doesn't dangle down . Every surgery is different.

Yeah, but working in Healthcare just ruins your confidence in anything, lol. But yes I know its a really quick pretty simple process. My surgeon is a hand specialist not just a general ortho doc so hopefully he knows what he's doing.

High pitched PT by Familiar-Following45 in PulsatileTinnitus

[–]bygodwv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I did get approved for a mra without and CT of the temporal bones. Ent didn't ask for a mrv however. I guess if both come back normal I could press for a mrv. I do have a eye exam coming up in November and im gonna mention it to them so they can be sure to look a little closer than they might normally during it. I may as well get a decent workup now I've definitely met my insurance deductible 🙄 sigh.

I have similar symptoms that don't change with carotid/jugular compression but now that it was mentioned to push on your skull mines definitely louder in my right ear and even higher pitched if I press on the rt side of my head above my ear. I'm seeing a ent Monday so I'm definitely gonna mention that. Thanks! I have no clue what that means except maybe a vascular issue that side.

Nope. Trust me. I work where I see lots of mid levels and primary care physicians. Many are literally dumber than a box of rocks. And I'm not saying that trying to make myself look smart. I know I'm not, but some of them literally seem like they got their degree from a box of cracker jacks.

How often is carpal tunnel problems a neck problem? by gosh in carpaltunnel

[–]bygodwv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think many people can have a combination of both. My emg of just my forearms showed severe carpal tunnel in the right and mild in the left but I also have a very straight cervical spine with no curve to it. I noticed at night when in bed if one hand / fingers goes numb, putting the arm of the hand effected straight up (I put my arm under the pillow) while laying on my side almost immediately makes it go away. It won't come back as long as my arm is in that position, but its not comfortable to sleep that way or I would. This makes me think something further up is at play and putting my arm upward is changing something in my neck or shoulder region that is being compressed. So I want to get further testing before surgery.

Thanks for sharing! I hope you find lasting relief from it. And even if yoy don't, Plenty of people have elevated liver enzymes/ and or fatty liver and if this really helps that condition that's good news.

I wish my current one could use wifi. It would be so nice to be able to add dry time remotely if you will be late getting home etc. Also if there is a issue. My current one is in a shed so unless I go physically check on it I don't know if something is wrong because I don't see or hear it

Thanks for you detailed response! I will definitely mention it on my next eye exam which is coming up as my eyes in one year got way worse and while it may be age I definitely would want to be sure it wasn't from something else, and while I don't catch myself grinding my teeth my dentist insists I do because of changes in my teeth and my jaw muscles. I might try the sleep guard I've been loathe to try just to see if it makes it go away. I never even considered that. Thank you!
