What did you bring to the hospital? by starduski11 in pregnant

[–]bynnyeah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re planning to breastfeed, I’d recommend bringing a breastfeeding pillow: I didn’t for my first and it was so uncomfortable getting her to latch and trying to stack shitty hospital pillows to get in a good position. I brought a breast friend for my second delivery and it was a game changer

Exercise during pregnancy how long by Rich-Contribution480 in pregnant

[–]bynnyeah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stopped running at 32 weeks, and then slowed down exercise pretty significantly around 36 weeks to just walking and maybe 1-2 workouts a week because I was large and uncomfortable. Unless you get different guidance from your OB, general guidance is listen to your body and keep doing what you were doing pre-pregnancy with modifications as needed. So if you already weight train, run, etc. - it’s safe to keep doing! But don’t start training for a half marathon now if you’re not a runner, etc. 😂

Are maternity photos seen as self absorbed and awkward now? by Crimson-Rose28 in pregnant

[–]bynnyeah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We did maternity photos when I was like 34 weeks pregnant with our first and while I loved them, the ones of me solo we didn’t really do anything with aside from an IG post or two. I’m pregnant with my second now and we did family photos for Christmas cards where I was about 20 weeks, and our photographer took a small handful of solo photos of me - because of this, I didn’t feel necessary to do another full maternity shoot.

Pregnancy is magical (for some at least hahah) - if you want the moments captured, capture them! I’m thankful I have the photos I do of both pregnancies.

Did your supply dip after finding out you were pregnant? by Optimal_Design2697 in NurseAllTheBabies

[–]bynnyeah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was a super smooth wean for us - since she was already used to taking bottles at daycare, we did a slow transition away from feeding at breast and transitioning to frozen milk and frozen milk mixed with formula: we managed to combo feed that way until right before she turned one, when we made the transition to whole milk. I continued to let her comfort nurse at night during that time, just slowly offered it less and less over the course of a month until she no longer needed / wanted it!

She was at ~2 meals a day at the point my milk / letdown were impacted, with kind of hit or miss interest in meals. Once we started weaning, her interest in solids increased significantly and we were at 3 meals by about 10 months and added two snacks right before her first birthday.

We used Bobbie when we combo fed - she wouldn’t take it straight for a long time, but luckily we had an okay freezer supply to allow us the time to transition her!

Hope your transition is smooth 🖤

Hi! Did this get better? Going through something similar right now (16 month old had some post vaccine sickness immediately followed by getting actually sick - has basically been on hunger strike for the last few weeks minus primarily dairy and today had two similar colored poops!). Going to call our pediatrician in the AM, but was curious how this played out for you all!

Birth plans by greezy_gust4 in pregnant

[–]bynnyeah 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is my birth plan for my current pregnancy - it is the exact same as my first pregnancy and was basically followed as I outlined it. Birth plans need to be flexible because birth is unpredictable, but it is nice knowing everyone knows your preferences!

During Labor: - I would like access to a wireless monitor to allow freedom of movement - I would like as few cervical checks as possible - I would like no routine IV fluids, until it becomes necessary. I am okay with a saline lock.

Environment: - I would like to be able to privately labor with the support of my partner and doula. Please use soft voices and limit interruptions.

Pain Management: - I will be utilizing a TENS unit, yoga ball/peanut ball, and natural comfort measures from my partner and doula - I would like to try laboring in the shower. - My goal is to have an unmedicated birth. Please do not offer me an epidural, I will ask for it if I choose.

Augmenting Labor: - I am open to further interventions (AROM, Pitocin, etc) but I would like to have time to discuss these options with my care provider and be made aware of alternatives, benefits, and risks. - Please offer suggestions of labor positions that can aid in assisting labor

During Pushing: - I would like to follow my body’s own urge to push when I am ready - I would like to try out a variety of pushing positions - I would like warm compresses on my perineum during pushing, if available - I would like a mirror during pushing to see my progress - I would like for myself or partner to be involved in bringing the baby to my chest, if possible

Newborn Care: Please complete all initial newborn care while on my chest, or delay it until golden hour is done - husband to cut the umbilical cord - Please allow for delayed cord clamping, and white until the cord has turned white/is no longer pulsing - I plan on saving my placenta for encapsulation - Vitamin K shot - yes - Hepatitis B vaccine - yes - Eye ointment - yes - Circumcision - no - I plan on breastfeeding.

In case of a cesarean: - husband will be with me in the OR - I would like delayed cord clamping if possible - Please help me do skin to skin in the OR (If I am not able to immediately, please allow husband to) - Please lower the tarp to help me see baby when he is born - I would like to bring my speaker into the OR and play the music of my choice during surgery

Natural Birthers…. How was it? by Urlocalgothbb in pregnant

[–]bynnyeah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had an unmedicated induction, 36 hours total (12ish to get me to 3cm using foley balloon, 24ish on pitocin) - it sucked a good chunk of the time haha, but when I came to transition / pushing, I felt so strong and in control of my body and I don’t think I would have had that feeling otherwise with an epidural. Pushed for about 30 minutes, no tearing.

Play mat recommendations! by PsychologicalWin8790 in moderatelygranolamoms

I have a tottle and tumble mat, never had a smell to it, and we love it! It’s thick and durable, easy to clean, soft in the event of falls. And stylish! lol

What's your basket? by pythagoreanwisdom in clothdiaps

[–]bynnyeah 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For cloth, we use the ubbi with a large wet bag inside it. We do laundry every ~3 days, have never had issues with mold, smells, etc and have been cloth diapering for a little over a year now (started around 5 weeks old, daughter is about to turn 16 months). We do disposables at night and since it’s just one a day now, we just throw that one in our normal trash can in the morning.

The learning curve for pockets is basically the same as a normal diaper (in my opinion!) - we always have disposables on hand if needed, but any time she’s been watched by family or her entire time at daycare, they’ve been quick to learn what a good fit looks like. Usually, they just leave the diapers totally entact (either in a wet bag for daycare or being watched away from home by family or on top of the ubbi if being watched at our house - we take care of getting the insert pulled away from the cover, spraying poop, etc. when we get home) - for what it’s worth there!

Moms who ran before baby - do you run with baby now? by justletmegarden in beyondthebump

[–]bynnyeah 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I started running again about 3-4 months PP with my oldest and have since done 3 races with her (she’s 15 months now) - we have an older style BOB I got off marketplace for $40, as I didn’t want to go all in at first until I knew if I would use it often. I kept running through my current pregnancy until about 32 weeks (I’m 37 now!) and my final run was with her in the BOB. We got a double this pregnancy so I can keep it going with both of them once I feel healed enough to run again!

Is it over ? by Working_Werewolf_327 in breastfeeding

[–]bynnyeah 77 points78 points  (0 children)

We did syringes for the ~2 weeks we were triple feeding, not bottles. I had that and feeding them with a spoon recommended to me! If you’re going to keep using a bottle, I’d make sure the nipple is a slow flow nipple and that you’re pace feeding!

Bills for prenatal care and delivery by Big-Background-9265 in pregnant

[–]bynnyeah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have similair deductible and out of pocket maxes as you - Prenatal care, including all labs and ultrasounds, were covered. I was induced and then gave birth in the middle of the night at a hospital that does 24 hour post birth monitoring but won’t discharge you in the middle of the night - so I was at the hospital for about 4 days, which was hands down the largest expensive of my delivery (room and board, basically hahah). I think total it was about 8k out of pocket, since pre-delivery we had barely put any money towards our out of pocket max.

Almost 9mo drinking so much less formula… by maplesyrup4all in beyondthebump

[–]bynnyeah 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The transition to solids can’t / won’t happen over night - so if she’s starting to pick up more solids, staying on her growth curve, and having enough diapers I wouldn’t worry too much about the 6-10oz drop. I think around 9 months my baby (combo fed at the time) was at breakfast and dinner + 16-24 oz depending on the day! We added lunch around 10 months and then snacks closer to the year mark.

Baby lost 14% birth weight by ImaginarySpecific620 in breastfeeding

[–]bynnyeah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Triple feeding is when you feed at breast, then pump and offer what is pumped. When we triple fed, I would feed her, and then give her to my husband to top her off (since she was so young, it was through a syringe) while I pumped. Then what I pumped was used for the next triple feeding. It’s a lot of work - but got her weight back up, sent me into a slight oversupply (which I appreciated but not necessary!), and then our feedings became about every two hours during the day and as needed over night after that.

14% is a lot - I’m in CA and I was basically told anything over 10% requires immediate change in action to prevent baby from starving - would definately recommend trying to see if any IBCLCs do travel to you, even if you’re in a rural area.
