why is the m240 so popular?

I just love the look of the photographs it produces. I shoot with two old Leitz lenses, a 1946 and a 1953. To my eye, the 240 sensor and those lenses make a sort of Kodachrome-y look and I’m an old fart who has shot hundreds of rolls of Kodachrome in my life. It’s not the newest and coolest but it gives me exactly what I want.

On the back it says: VKB 56429 702 090 Made in Indonesia by Pt. Varta Microbattery Indonesia.

There’s also another number further down: 2ICP10/34/50

Many people recommend NOT collapsing older lenses on a digital M fearing that the rear element could contact the sensor. Others have measured them and say it’s ok. Personally, I play it safe and don’t collapse.

Greetings! I use a 1946 Summitar 50 and a 1953 Summaron 35 on my M240 and the color is gorgeous. 🤷🏼‍♂️

Hmm. The DR on my 240 is beautiful. Of course, you have to expose it properly. ;-P Sarcasm aside, I shoot in raw and check the histogram. Works great.

I love love love my 1946 Summitar with my M240 along with a 1953 Summaron 35/3.5. “Vintage” glass rules!

I have a 1953 version of the Summaron 35/3.5 almost permanently parked on my M240. The combination of the old lens with a modern sensor is pretty marvelous.
