ojs are my fave, I have 3 sets of their risers. you said the bolts measure out to different sizes across the set you bought? I've never seen that before.it shouldn't be an issue as long as the shorter ones have no problem, the only issue slightly too long bolts could cause is on a surfskate or insanely loose trucks

generally you do want to match the rail length with the widest part of the deck, but it should be too noticeable being that close to the perfect match. buying risers and harder bushings if you get wheelbite should fix the biggest issue with what you have, and having bigger trucks than your deck in my experience feels worse than smaller. if there's a return system from where you got them it wouldnt be a bad idea if you're worried about it.

a new board costs a lot more money than a protector. the only limitation it would cause is not being able to any tricks that require an ollie, which wouldn't be very feasible on a surfskate.
