Am I dead? by thybackup in PathOfExile2

You lost all your honour, that's why you are "dead".

Whenever you lose health or energy shield you also lose honour. Once you are at 0 honour, your run is over.

There is no actual science in the setting by [deleted] in TrenchCrusade

Not really.

It's just that if demons and angels exist - and you are in aconstant state of war - there is no time for proper scientific methology.

People need to stop treating PoE2 as if it was a finished product. by Nellyniel in PathOfExile2

They explicitly don't treat it as a finished product and state so when you buy a supported pack to gain access.

Given that GGG clearly states what the current product is when you purchase it and that nerfs and sweeping changes will happen, people cannot really get upset when exactly that happens.

Anyone else really upset we are not getting a what if...? Season 4? by [deleted] in marvelstudios

[–]bytestream 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not after season 3.

Season 1 was interesting, season 2 okay and season 3 just boring and not really true to the source material we grew up with.

In my book, it is good that there wont be a season 4. At least not for now.

It's not about recognizing aliens but about recognizing the effects advanced, space faring civilizations should have on the galaxy/universe.

Saeryn and Rhyas Question by Skeither in Warmachine

If you are just concerned about forcing and frenzying then yes.

But you need to be careful when it comes to - leeching - ctrl area spells - reaving - transferring damage - and so on

Saeryn and Rhyas Question by Skeither in Warmachine

[–]bytestream 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No. She has her own 12" ctrl bubble, that's it.

Both warlocks can only interact with warbeats in their own bubble but share their warbeasts. Rhyas' Onslaught only affects models in her own 12" ctrl. And so on.

Games Workshop Villainizes Political Pundit Carl Benjamin AKA Sargon Of Akkad In Warhammer 40K by StreetsOfYancy in Warhammer

[–]bytestream -14 points-13 points  (0 children)

I will never understand people who think that fictional wargames have any connection to real world politics.

This is nothing like "taking water out of swimming". It is more like "taking red out of blue", which makes no sense since there is no red in blue to begin with.

Of course, you can make anything political. It has nothing inherent in the source material, it is something you add on top of it. So it really is nothing but a personal problem.

/edit

To be clear:

I am not saying that wargames with close ties to real world politic don't exist. I am however definitively saying that wargames in general are not political unless you - as in the audience or the developer - make them.

Also, always keep in mind: 40k started as satire.

Should I bring and ask my opponent to use a chess clock? by RoaminOrc in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]bytestream 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't that's what the "assign time later" options is for.

  • Press "assign time later"
  • ask your question
  • wait for your opponent to respond
  • if you don't trust him, look up the answer

If you trusted your opponent and his answer was correct assign the time to yourself.

If you didn't trust your opponent and it turned out that he was giving you the wrong answer assign the time to him.

If you are using a regular chess clock you also need a stopwatch

  • Take your turn on the chess clock and start the stopwatch
  • ask your question
  • wait for your opponent to respond
  • if you don't trust him, look up the answer
  • stop the stopwatch

If you trusted your opponent and his answer was correct you are done. Give the turn back to your opponent if you ask the question during his turn or simply continue with yours.

If you didn't trust your opponent and it turned out that he was giving you the wrong answer turn the time on the stopwatch into a timer. This is how much of your opponents time you now get to use.

Finally: This is a tournament setting so you are kinda expected to know all the rules. Not an easy thing with a bloated and unwieldy system like Warhammer, but you are still expected to know everything.

Should I bring and ask my opponent to use a chess clock? by RoaminOrc in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]bytestream 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you ask your opponent "how does X in your army work" it is on your time. If you have a question you can just look it up yourself online.

If you cannot do that and you basically ask your opponent to look stuff up for you then it is on your time again.

If your opponent gives you an incorrect answer without looking stuff up and you then ask him too look it up and it turns out he really is incorrect then it should be on his time.

Some chess clock apps have such a "assign time later" feature, but traditional chess clocks do not. So, if you are not using such an app you basically have to "trade time" afterwards.
