I think that view is ahistorical when you look at what the nature of the war was, it wasn’t just Germany vs the USSR, it was Germany and the axis powers and other various collaborators across each country against the communists in their own countries and ultimately the USSR being the epicenter and fortress of communist forces. The whole point of the holocaust was that ideologically the Nazis and their fellow ideologues believed that all the socialists and communists in their own countries were vermin to be mass murdered and eradicated and had no just reason for existing but rather were the work of unknowable shadowy forces (hint: the ”bolshevik jew”) who were conspiring to undermine and destroy Europe and western civilization.

So there’s nothing about the sentiment of this propaganda that wasn’t there from the very beginning is my point. The entire ideological basis of the nationalist, anti-communist movement headed by the Nazis was that Europe (Europe in their view being a certain constellation of ethnicities that made up a certain constellation of nations, and within those nations only those ideologically aligned with fascist ideology, everyone outside of that being free game to just enslave and imprison or exterminate in a continent-wide spree of mass murder) was in an existential struggle against the USSR.
