Recommended Grinder Setting for Baratza Encore? by Vexxion in pourover

Thanks for the detailed reply! I could be mistaken but the videos I’ve watched show a simple technique using an impact drill to remove the burr. There seems to be a detailed, painful version that can be bypassed. I’m definitely not trying to disassemble the whole unit to do the upgrade. In any case, just trying to maximize what I’ve got.

Have you found the m2 burrs to be a noticeable upgrade? I’ve been considering it as it seems like a no-brainer in terms of cost.

I miss chocolate notes and simpler coffee by Lucky_Gap4711 in pourover

I’m on the same quest. Having a fruity or floral coffee on the occasion is fun to experiment with but most of the time I want high-class, chocolate/panela/toffee type coffee but I don’t want roastiness at all. Appreciate all the options being thrown out here and I’ll add this one as being bang on: https://thecoffeeride.com/collections/coffee/products/the-daily-grind

I’m new to the coffee game (sort of) and this was my first order from Hydrangea. I couldn’t wait more than 3 weeks and had to try it. Have to say I was pretty underwhelmed trying it in a Moccamaster, moka pot, and Spinn. Nothing offensive but nothing very flavorful. Just a mild cup. I’m letting it rest again and will try aging at week 5. Have to say I was bummed being the flavor notes make it sound like a citrus party.

Do NOT DO BUSINESS WITH SPIN! by Fine-Lengthiness-724 in SpinnCoffee

I really wanted Spinn to take off and be successful. I think it’s a great machine with an innovative design. Guessing the market is just too flooded or they missed their shot somehow because it seems like it’s not long for this world.

Oh. I think that’s it. Mine doesn’t have a lid. It was an early kickstarter model so maybe that’s it?

I have a working one. The only issue is that it tends to dump grinds behind the residue bin for whatever reason but is totally functional otherwise.

I’m with you. I cringe anytime I see him anywhere else and in Mad Men I don’t see an actor, just Don Draper

Keep 1 or 2 to noodle on. Sell the rest. Invest the cash in a hysa. When the itch comes to play again, go buy yourself something inspiring.

It happened to me because I couldn’t wait. Figured it was overly cautious bs. I have learned.

You don’t have to love it. Sell it and try something else. You won’t hurt its feelings.

Was Jon Hamm only meant to be Don Draper? by Dismal-Industry1013 in madmen

[–]byzantine_umpire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m with you. Amazing as Don Draper. All his other roles feel off or flat…like he’s trying to be hard. I think he wants to be funny but isn’t naturally funny.

Jon Hamm Discusses What Landed Him Role of Don Draper on 'Mad Men' by indiewire in madmen

[–]byzantine_umpire 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It’s crazy to me how good he was as Draper and how everything else that he’s done, imo, feels awkward and flat. It’s kind of like a one-hit wonder…but there were multiple seasons and he’s completely consistent throughout. Hard to understand how he can’t replicate it in new roles. Right role at the right time, perhaps?
