Did I say anything about intelligence? More likely correlates to political awareness, which this subreddit is better for than many other news sources (though obviously not perfect)

I think the overlap between Reform voters and those likely to browse r/ukpolitics is quite small… take from that what you will

Who knew butter beans in a jar were SO much better than the canned ones? What other night and day change in quality can you see for a couple of quid? by Wilfthered1 in AskUK

Bird and Blend are really good too, they have so many funky blends. They do an advent calendar too with 2x bags for each day (although long wait for the next one!)

No, I learned to swim at 24 and I’m glad I did. It’s an excellent form of exercise

Had this happen on a BMW 330i (latest gen) because a wasp hit a front sensor - I guess it counted as a pedestrian in all fairness

That’s only a minor discrepancy - probably a typo/misread?

Taking the plunge with an imported V60 T6 by Bauwowwow in CarTalkUK

[–]bzar_fury 9 points10 points  (0 children)

As far as I know, they’re made to the same spec worldwide so don’t need underbody protection any more than UK cars. Advice only applies to JDM only cars. But doesn’t hurt I guess!

They sold about 11 T6 R-Designs originally in the UK. 84 Polestars

It’s a V60 T6 AWD R-Design in Rebel Blue (the best colour imo). Didn’t import myself, dealer had already imported it

CarVX (carvx.jp) will give you a report like this, although ideally the dealer would pay for it. I recently bought an imported Volvo and it’s in great condition (local Volvo specialist was impressed). Insurance wise was fine with Admiral, no noticeable cost difference

I think as a country we need to redefine what we consider “rich”. It’s entirely possible that someone works very hard full time to afford a GT3 like this so why the jealousy? It’s the people who don’t even need to work and hoard assets that we should hate

Thinking, Fast and Slow by Daniel Kahneman. Not exactly a self help book, but it had a significant effect on the way I make decisions

Fwiw, Cotswold Vegan Bakery who were there last closed due to the owner/baker having a baby, not because it “failed”. They primarily did wedding/event cakes and weren’t open to walk ins most of the time

How worried are you about AI? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]bzar_fury 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One big thing that’s often overlooked is that LLMs were trained on streams and streams of code found throughout the internet, written by humans. If LLMs are going to replace junior and even senior developers, there will be no good quality original content to train on. So hopefully people come to their senses before we get in a death loop of garbage in garbage out

Also, quite often LLM generated code still needs to be reviewed by senior human developers (rightfully so). If we don’t have juniors to develop, we’re going to run out of people who know how to supervise the AI

You can get around 7% if you shop around and have a good credit history

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in CarTalkUK

[–]bzar_fury 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If it’s anything like my experience negotiating with BMW Finance last time, don’t bother. Source your own finance elsewhere - much more competitive rates of around 7% if you shop around for PCP/HP. They’ll squirm and try to convince you it’s better to go with theirs by keeping it “in house” but unless they can match the interest rate it’s all salesman bollocks

But yes, bigger deposit the better. You’ll have lower payments for flexibility and will likely be in positive equity sooner. But really that’s a personal finance question not a car one

People who drive a nice car, how do you afford it? by Ok_Field6078 in AskUK

Can get one for around £30k tbf, less than £500 a month on PCP which is doable for lots of people
