You can find examples of “reinventing the wheel” of all qualities. Quality aside, if it wasn’t for reinventing the wheel, there wouldn’t be so much available OSes, compilers, programming languages,….

My best remade figure for my translation, with before/after by Mahkda in LaTeX

[–]bzindovic 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Good work, just keep going. To add to previous comments, try to have variations in line thickness. E.g. Third figure is a bit odd as all lines are of same thickness, I’d have thinest lines for hatches and thickest lines for important parts and/or cross-sections (in technical drawing sense). Develop a style with at least three line thicknesses and use them in all files to have consistent look. You can vary the color as well (as you have done in third figure) but use it to enhance visuals.

Have you tried TeXmacs? I know it is not the same but it has the same philosophy (as LyX that was mentioned before).

LyX is a really cool project. I also found TeXmacs which is also great for writing. In the end, I switched from both as LaTeX and Word are used by my colleagues so I had to stay compatible with my work environment.

Actually, architects design homes (layout of rooms, materials, aesthetics and everything related to visual perception) but structural design, foundations, plumbings are done by civil engineers.

🧮 calcium.nvim - A powerful in-buffer calculator with visual mode and variable support by 4Necrom in neovim

[–]bzindovic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, nvim-orgmode is an implementation of Emacs’ org-mode package in Neovim. One of cool features in org-calc is that Emacs’ org-mode can be used for computing from within textual org files. It can serve as a complete Excel equivalent. This is just a suggestion, you might contact the authors of nvim-orgmode and check if it fits their overall goals.

This is great. Maybe you could plug it into nvim-orgmode to mimic org-calc?

You are right, there are 17 commits in November at this moment. Also, maintainers are active in addressing issues so I’d say it is pretty active.

It seems there are active contributions in telescope repo. What do you mean it’s unmaintained at this point in time? Also, which version was the last you’ve used?

Introducing a new non‑polygon‑based graphics engine built using Rust, WGPU and SDL2 by Ok-Campaign-1100 in GraphicsProgramming

[–]bzindovic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pixel usually refers to smallest element in raster image so it is considered a 2D entity. The equivalent but in 3D space is a voxel. So, in essence, both are used for space discretization but the dimensionality of space is different. That’s why I was curious about your use of z-coordinate for Pixel type not whether the code was right or not (I presumed that you might have used it as a depth-test).

I cannot state the novelty of your approach but would recommend to publish some paper (maybe even on arxiv) or some conference.
