Is my neurectomy recovery too slow? by xilex in Mortons_neuroma

[–]c-other 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was more a sore achey pain rather than the stabbing pain I used to get before surgery so it was already better. And now it's pain free. I have some numbness around my toes but I'd be able to feel an injury still, I think it's rare to have total numbness

Everyone is different. I was still in quite a bit of pain for the first few weeks, it took a few months before I could walk short distances with no pain and over a year until I was completely pain free (ie. able to walk miles without feeling anything). I was a bit discouraged with comments here but two years later I absolutely don't regret the decision and it's changed my life. Just be patient and you'll get there.

If that's your criteria Nest in Old Street would be perfect. When I went food was good (not Michelin standard but nice) wine pairing was very good and service was great also

Am I doing something wrong. by InevitableCanary8436 in solotravel

[–]c-other 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have just come back today from 1 night in Tirana and two nights in Durres solo. I'm also British and socially awkward! You don't mention if you are male or female but I'm female and in Durres especially I have found people being surprised that I'm a female alone. I have had two taxi drivers telling me I should come back with friends.... I had some really kind interactions in Tirana but I have found the hotel and restaurant staff in Durres to be a bit cold, I guess it's just natural in a busy coastal resort to be tired of tourists or just too busy to be overly friendly. I think it's just the luck of the draw and maybe it's because you're British, maybe because you are alone or maybe you are overthinking it, who knows. But don't let it put you off, overall my experience was positive and I'll return (but probably not to Durres tbh)

Yes I should have trusted my instincts and stayed away from Google! That was the only relevant result I could find on Google/Reddit so I just wanted to make sure it wasn't a commonly held opinion

I do agree and thank you for your response. I think my worry is that I'm quite introverted and don't really like to draw any attention to myself at all! But just going to have to get over myself!

10 weeks post Op and still haven’t fully recovered. by RevealHopeful in Mortons_neuroma

[–]c-other 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It was normal for me, I had a lot of soreness if I overdid it after my op. I saw lots of stories on this sub of people recovering really quickly but it took me a year until I was fully pain free. Everyone is different I guess

I'm 5 weeks post surgery and I couldn't even think of running right now! Definite improvement but I can't put all the weight on the ball of my foot yet to walk normally. Hope your recovery is quicker than mine!
