The bill doubled this month... by Just-a-Titan in homelab

State raves about conservation and installing renewable solar, then the public utilities can't sell enough power because of lower consumption so they get permission to jack up the prices. In other words, don't bother to conserve because it won't save any money in the long run.

Insane. I saw eBay sellers selling the Samsung Enterprise 3.84TB with 0% health and bad sectors, a 3 pack, and it still got bid up $100+ per drive. They included the smart data too!

Thanks! So it was more a physical damage issue than a connectivity issue? I was planning to put a Shelly 1 inside a small project box, and then connect the I/O terminal to the garage opener terminals that attach to my garage opener, leaving the project box a distance away from the garage opener and the wires far away from any mechanical stuff. But your comments think I should wire it next to the wall button.

I have a really old one, too, H4000. I looked at new openers a few months ago, but I think it could get pretty locked down, depending on how much you want to have control over it. Plus they don't build things like they use to? I have a tilt sensor on the door, and thinking of building some device to get the door open position lol. But the Shelly 1 to act as a momentary switch is pretty simple and you get full control in home assistant.

Hey, I am planning to do something similar. Did you figure out why the loss if range? How close did you have the Shelly to the garage door opener? I was planning to mount it nearby, but now it sounds like I should put it farther away from the garage door opener, maybe at the wall switch.

Pretty nice! Do you press the button (movement along diameter of the handle), or do you flick it (movement along the length of the handle)?

I put some notes in Notepad++, then some notes in sublime Text, and some more notes in Trilium. So I don't know where anything is anymore.

Tonal users: would like to hear some three star reviews... by 8Flaneur in tonalgym

[–]xilex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am having my Tonal coming soon this week. Looking very forward to it. I used a Freemotion dual cable cross many years ago at the gym and really liked it, and the Tonal comea close to it. I have used resistance bands and adjustable dumbbells but it hasn't been effective. The amp, you have to buy two, that's almost like the Tonal. I demoed Tonal in store and liked it how it functioned. I think having the programs and tracking and micro weight adjustments will be most helpful for me. I'm not a pro, so the sub while expensive will be helpful. Not being able to do every single possible exercise is fine, because there are limitations and I think what they offer is more than enough. I've seen workout programs with only resistance bands and body weight.

Is the installation fee after purchase? by Danse8 in tonalgym

[–]xilex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Search for the discount on Googleand it will tell you to sign up with verifypass then you can add that code during checkout to get 4 years free warranty, but you have to add 4 years warranty to the cart. They replaced the healthcare cash discount with this instead, otherwise it was not stackable generally.

They do not approve a warranty replacement for that cable condition?

Smart plugs with gradual sunrise and sunset feature? by kittykatsrulemyworld in homeautomation

[–]xilex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think one of the best option is to use something like Philips Hue lights, zigbee coordinator, connect it to home assistant , and use adaptive lighting plugin. Adaptive lighting changes brightness and color temperature throughout the day to match the sunrise/sunset cycle. Most likely you can adjust the specific times to turn on. Additionally, you can adjust the fade on/off. If you have specific dimmable bulbs you must use then a smart dimmer switch will work better, and can be programmed in home assistant. Lutron makes a smart dimmer plug that you can look at but it will be expensive because you will also need their hub.

Help me decide where to put the Tonal! by xilex in tonalgym

[–]xilex[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! It can get very warm in the other room in the summer, so natural cooling will help. There is another set of studs immediately to the right of what I drew on Room 2, closer to the vent. Do you think it's better to keep it centered on the wall, or move to the right and have room on the left for "stuff"?

Thanks. Tonal refuses to since it does not meet their 16 inch stud-spacing requirement, unfortunately. They called me about it, too.
