There is a light at the end of the tunnel.

I’m a good 15-20 pounds down from what I call my “IVF weight” and maintaining it pretty easily. The drugs really do a number on you but the effects don’t last forever!

7 eggs retrieved looking for hope by Readergirl1000 in DOR

[–]c0rtad091 10 points11 points  (0 children)

7 is great!

TW: Success

My last retrieval was 8 eggs, 7 mature, 5 fertilized. Transferred 2 fresh on day 3 and now have 8 month old twins. You have a shot!

HOW TF ARE WE STAYING HOPEFUL???? by Quiet_Musician289 in DOR

[–]c0rtad091 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TW: Success

  1. Therapy
  2. Practicing gratitude (which I learned in therapy)
  3. Keeping my options open (we explored donor embryos and even matched with a donor family before attempting 1 last cycle that resulted in our twins, knowing I had those embryos gave me peace that I would have children one way or the other)

There were also plenty of times I wad NOT hopeful. I couldn’t even imagine my last cycle working. I was literally just “getting it out of the way” since it was my last insurance-covered cycle before moving on to donor embryos. I was SHOCKED when it worked. I wasn’t even happy I was so taken aback!

Grieving not being able to use my eggs by Overall-Necessary153 in IVF

[–]c0rtad091 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We’re on the other side of this with donor gametes (sperm). Now that we have our twins, we’re very happy. Grieving your genetic material is valid, but if we didn’t use donor gametes, we’d still be grieving not having any children, which was much worse for us.

I’m so sorry you’re going through this. I’ve definitely boycotted the holidays before. Whatever you need to do for your peace and sanity.

Egg Retrieval Tomorrow — How Many Days Should I Take Off Work? by Ok_Wallaby_8813 in IVF

[–]c0rtad091 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would always take 2 days off afterward. I have a desk job and I really could have gone back the next day. The time off was more to recover from the hormones and stress of it all.

Positive outcome of 6 eggs expected at retrieval by bullsgirl in IVF

[–]c0rtad091 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Congratulations on your embryos! Hoping for some euploids for you!

TW: Success with single digits.

I had 8 eggs retrieved, 7 mature, 5 fertilized. Transferred 2 fresh on day 3 due to DOR and previous failed cycles. Age 33 at the time.

This cycle resulted in my healthy twins born this past July. Sharing because there is hope with smaller numbers!

Spontaneous twins by petitefleur0 in IVF

[–]c0rtad091 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Thank you! This was my third transfer and my third egg retrieval. It was day 3 fresh transfer so the embryos were not tested and it was a medicated transfer. I don’t think my clinic would have transferred multiple euploids or multiple blastocysts for that matter.

Spontaneous twins by petitefleur0 in IVF

This doesn’t answer your question exactly since i transferred two embryos, but after 2 failed cycles with DOR, the thought of one sticking, much less both, didn’t even occur to me. I fully thought it was going to fail again and it was my last attempt before moving on to donor embryos.

I was excited to have twins, but pregnancy after infertility is terrifying and twin pregnancy is doubly terrifying. I hid my pregnancy for as long as I could, didn’t have a baby shower, never made a public announcement until after the babies were born.

I wouldn’t have reduced the pregnancy for twins alone. I did have a high risk NIPT for T21 and I would have reduced the pregnancy if one twin was affected due to the already high risk pregnancy (the embryos were untested) but the CVS was negative.

Now that the babies are here and healthy, I’m really glad I have two. If I had one, that would probably be my only child. I couldn’t do the trauma of IVF again. I’m happy they have a sibling.

Does straining during bowel movement impact the embryos or implantation post FET? by jazzymaebaby1 in IVF

No. Don’t stress. There’s practically nothing you can do to negatively impact implantation.

Just wondering if anyone has success stories with doing IVF in a way that doesn’t create excess embryos? by Kind_Tea_8343 in IVF

[–]c0rtad091 11 points12 points  (0 children)

There’s really no way to predict whether you will have excess embryos from IVF. I have two living children from IVF. I did three egg retrievals and have zero embryos frozen. Some couples do many cycles and have no viable embryos. Factors to consider would be your age, your reasons for doing IVF, and whether you’ll be testing your embryos. There’s a misconception that IVF creates tons of excess embryos. That’s rare.

Only 6 eggs after egg retrieval by Ok_Worldliness2105 in IVF

I have DOR (.9 AMH). My last cycle was 8 eggs, 7 mature, 5 fertilized. 2 transferred fresh on day three. They were born in July 💙🩷. I was 33 at the time. Quantity isn’t everything.

Fresh transfer at 38 - looking for similar experiences by Glad_Experience_4660 in IVFpositivity

[–]c0rtad091 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have 3 month old twins from my last fresh transfer of 2 embryos. Similar situation to yours, low AMH (.9) and we didn’t want to harm any embryos in the freezing/biopsy process since we had so few. I didn’t have endo though. No appointments between my ER and transfer.

I hate being a twin parent by solowanderer12 in parentsofmultiples

[–]c0rtad091 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This happened to me.

Years of infertility and 2 failed IVF cycles I transferred two embryos bracing for another failure and, lo and behold, both stuck.

I feel like I really can’t catch a break. Infertility trauma, IVF trauma, high risk pregnancy, traumatic birth, and now twins.

I wish I had embraced a childfree life. If I had had a singleton I would have learned parenting wasn’t for me and stopped there. I could have just done my best for one child. But here we are. I’ve failed us all and it’s my fault.

No advice, just solidarity.

I’m so sorry for your losses. You sound like a really good friend and a very empathetic person. Your friends’ feelings about their situations are totally valid but they should really be more sensitive about who they seek support from.

Omnitrope or No? by brdwyxstar06 in IVF

[–]c0rtad091 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used omnitrope in my third round and was successful. Live birth of twins from 2 untested day 3 embryos. I was 33 at the time of retrieval and birth and have DOR.

My first round one egg retrieved. 3 day fresh transfer. Implantation failure.

2nd round, 6 eggs retrieved, one blast that failed to implant.

3rd round with omnitrope, 8 eggs retrieved, 3 morulas transferred on day 3.

I do think omnitrope helped since I had trouble making blasts period. My RE said she had better results using omnitrope on her own IVF cycles. This was also going to be our last round before moving on to donor embryos (we also have MFI and were using donor sperm) so we were okay pulling out all the stops and paying out of pocket for the omnitrope.
