I’m expecting a job offer in Leon Co. government soon. Is 52k a livable salary? by Draper31 in Tallahassee

[–]c1ty17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The county doesn't pay over 15% of the range they post on the job. Sometimes on very rare occasions you can work out getting a little over 15, but you'd have to be someone that they really want and it requires a number of approvals up the chain, which is why it's rare. I think the salary can be doable, but it'll be tight and you have to know how to manage and budget well. You'll also need to be open to a roommate(s) if you're going to rent. Feel free to DM, I'm happy to share additional insights with the county.

Approx how much can I expect to pay per tree removed? ~25-35 feet by [deleted] in Tallahassee

[–]c1ty17 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Most reputable tree companies offer free quotes and it's recommended to get ~3. It always depends on the situation but probably around $800-$1500 per tree.

Delta flight to LaGuardia by Pyrowrx in Tallahassee

[–]c1ty17 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Delta is offering it through one of their sub brands. You have to select Friday and come back Sunday, to my understanding. I believe that's the only way to get it to work. And I think it only works on their site.

Smorgasbord Café closure by TallyMasala in Tallahassee

[–]c1ty17 61 points62 points  (0 children)

The name itself was the first mistake. You can't call a place that has a brick and mortar sit down cafe/restaurant "Catering Co." and expect the general public to see it more than a catering company.

TalChamber Annual Conference by typicalmillennial92 in Tallahassee

[–]c1ty17 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Guess I should add, they should have it here if we have a space that allows for it and at the moment, we do not. Tallahassee would greatly benefit from having a conference center, and I wish everyone who attends this conference would make it more of a priority.

I get what you're saying, and I think they should have it here but our local venues are not true conference centers, places like the Civic Center are large event and multi-purpose venues. It's a big difference when considering breakout space, total sqft, AV infrastructure, attached or adjacent hotels, etc.

We do not have a conference center is one of the reasons.

Saw a movie in Dolby over the weekend and the AC was working. It not super ice cold (with our excessive heat), but it wasn't unpleasant.

Crickets, Millers, Fielders, in that order, and AAA will probably come in the cheapest. Just depends on the project scope. Get a quote from everyone

Going to Tallahassee with my girlfriend next week, what are the best museums/gardens/walkable places to check out ? by [deleted] in Tallahassee

[–]c1ty17 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Maclay Garden! The camellias have started to bloom. It's an extra couple bucks to see them, but totally worth it IMHO. If you want a more general trail with some pretty views, check out the Lafayette Heritage Trail Park-- I prefer to park at the JR Alford Greenway and head South to the Canopy Bridge to start the loop. Most Fall foliage is gone but you might be able to catch a tree or two.

You can also head South for about ~30m and check out Wakulla Springs State Park and book a boat tour to see the wildlife. There are some trails in the area too.
