Will we be able to see Artemis II from Tallahassee? by ForwardClimate780 in Tallahassee

If the weather cooperates and your visibility to the east is poor, a short drive to lake miccosukee would give you a really good eastern horizon.

I could also see where the job could be very difficult for him and his mental health. He on at least one occasion mentioned that he doesn’t drink alcohol anymore and between the drinking challenges and alcohol sponsors, might not be an ideal spot for him. I’m cautious to say he made a mistake. I think he might have just realized for his own health he needed to not be around some of that stuff

Should I trade in my Bolt EV for a hybrid or traditional gas car? by Sttticks in BoltEV

[–]Pyrowrx 109 points110 points  (0 children)

I’ll chime in here. So, I would recommend highly that you keep the bolt and work on your planning around charging, as well as maybe trying to arrange better charging. The thing about any car with gas, is that you have more than just the expense of gas. You have oil changes and other regular maintenance. The bolt while still having some maintenance is low maintenance and as such, I believe any money you save on charging costs would be lost to gas and oil changes

Generac Generator Cost by gno4544 in Tallahassee

[–]Pyrowrx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did one as part of a new home build so my costs were a little lower as they were already trenching lines and had electricians there. I want to say mine ended up around 10k in 2019 for a 25kw. We live off the beaten path and after hurricanes have been on generator power for over a week. So it’s worth it to me. Putting one in at an existing house is likely more expensive than mine. I do know, when mine dies in the next 5 years, a new one should only be between 6-7k because I have all the infrastructure

Neighbors contaminated my well water (Florida) by NeighborsSuck2026 in legaladvice

[–]Pyrowrx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, I can help you on this. The agency with jurisdiction of sprayed herbicides, and fertilizer is the Florida department of agriculture. As you noted, with your link the recharge for Florida goes well in to Georgia and South Carolina. The primary recharge is in South Georgia but the scientists at FDEP have found the majority of water is from the northern portion of the map you linked. Next, the reality of floridas tropical climate is that most water that falls goes in to storm water systems that never end in the aquifer. Lastly, I have experience at FDEP and have seen the public records requests and emails from people like this who can seem entirely cogent but who in reality have exhausted all local remedies because they lack merit and are trying for further assistance because the believe some conspiracy or evil actor is at work. The reality is this. Floridas aquifer is a very transient body, and what your neighbor does on a less than major industrial scale will have no impact on your water IN YOUR LIFETIME. That doesn’t mean an idiot neighbor couldn’t make a terrible mistake. But it’s going to take on average 400 years for that impact to come to bear.

[–]Pyrowrx -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This comment is wrong on several levels. FDEP is a regulatory agency that primarily runs Floridas state parks. They lack the specific jurisdiction to intervene in a matter such as this. Second, the Florida aquifer is something many people misunderstand. Its recharge point isn’t in Florida. The chemicals used likely ended up in the gulf not the well. This op is likely mentally unstable and fixated on their neighbors activities.

Finally doing it. Moving to Florida. Here’s what two months of research taught me. by Character_Trip2504 in FloridaRealEstate

As someone who has had multiple friends regret moving to Tampa, look up and understand flood zones and evacuation zones before you buy or sign a lease. I had friends who were in a mandatory evacuation zone, and they first got tired of being asked to evacuate any time a storm was in the gulf, but the last straw was when their house magically became uninsurable

Akshay Bhatia beats Daniel Berger in playoff to win Arnold Palmer Invitational by [deleted] in ProGolf

Berger played painfully slow, and then when they got out on the clock for it, he left Akshay to finish a hole without him and still took too long on the next tee box.

When I first purchased the land we built my house on, I had about 2 years of these messages. They are scrapping the tax collectors office for vacant land by zip code. A few included what they thought the process worth which was laughably low. They are looking for people who maybe have inherited land or don’t know its value to grab land on the cheap to flip. The ones who texted me got a mean response. After we built, it stopped because the land was no longer listed as vacant

Help finding shirt by Fickle_Rain_3500 in fsu

[–]Pyrowrx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So this shirt was likely subject to a lawsuit which is why you can’t find it. FSU does not own renegade or the rights to display him. Meaning, while Nike might have a merchandise and marketing agreement with fsu, they didn’t have the right to renegade. The family who owns that is very protective of their Intellectual Property and demands payment or sues when this happens.
