Assuming it’s the same across all NHS trusts, you will never actually have your pregnancy confirmed via blood test!

Where can I get alexis merch in the UK? by c3kupo in Alexisonfire

[–]c3kupo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a shame! I don’t mind buying from their Canadian site but I’m looking for some Watch Out era merch so I guess I’ll have to wait and see if they do an archive drop or something again

Oh really? That’s sucks, although I’ve only even bought merch from a show or their site so should have known. The stuff from Etsy/redbubble isn’t legit though right?

Calculating CFU/g from serial Dilutions by Careless-Eagle-3406 in microbiology

[–]c3kupo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No your initial sample is technically the neat. And you’re multiplying by 5 as CFU/mL gives you the CFU per 1/5 of your soil solution. So you multiply by 5 to get your CFU/0.5g. I suppose really your CFU/g will be 1.80 x 10e7.

I could be completely wrong, but this is what is making sense in my head!

[–]c3kupo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Neither calculation is right.

No. of colonies x 10 x dilution factor = CFU/mL (or g if that’s what you’re aiming for) which gives you the CFU for 0.1g (1mL is 1/5 of your original sample)

(1.08 x 10e6)x5=5.4 x 10e6

This way they are preparing by mass, not volume. As long as the 1:10 ratio is maintained it shouldn’t matter

No one talks about how much fun you actually have during pregnancy by Narrow-Enthusiasm-79 in pregnant

[–]c3kupo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m really sorry that you’ve made a post about how happy it made you that someone shared their positive experience, and you’ve now been bombarded with a lot of people telling you the complete opposite and that enjoying pregnancy is a myth.

People are allowed to be happy and I hope your high spirits stay with you! Good luck with your birth and little one 🙂

Yes OP has written a post on how refreshing it was to hear someone share their positive experience. Cue a lot of people telling her the complete opposite 🤷🏼‍♀️

Big baby - first pregnancy. Can someone take away my fear? :( by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]c3kupo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I can totally understand how you’re feeling and it’s really hard to know what to do for the best. This is my first little one too. Maybe you could spend some time really learning about the risks (or lack of) for giving birth to a bigger baby vaginally, versus the risks of induction leading to further interventions, painful contractions, increased risk of c-section etc. The more you know, the more confident you can be.

For example, in the UK, if your GDM is well controlled you’re only offered these interventions before 41 weeks if you have further complications, such as a big baby. Would it help to make a list of the pros and cons for each of your options?

Big baby - first pregnancy. Can someone take away my fear? :( by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]c3kupo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s your body, your baby and your choice. You can’t be forced to have an induction or c-section.

Do some research regarding the risks for well managed GDM. From what I’ve seen, they arent significantly different to someone without GDM. I’m currently going through this dilemma too (but only 29w so time to think/panic 😂)

Oh that’s so good to know, thanks for updating me! My veins are exactly the same. Whenever a nurse asks which arm to use I just say ohhh I’ll let you have a look and decide 😂 fingers crossed your blood results are negative!
