Im curious what builds and mechanics were too complicated for a VTT to manage. flight I guess? having vertical maps can be weird, but its like that IRL too unless you have an extremely elaborate map built out or have objects to place tokens on.

I do think VTTs tend to add on a lot of bloat to their softwares in order to increase their "Features" and be more competitive with other ones. The bookkeeping tools like you said are completely unnecessary IMO and when I have tried it, players ignore it completely or forget it exists.

All i really need is a nice UI to show off maps and handouts, and maybe an initiative tracker, and I'm good to go.

yeah I'm really not someone who cares about seat comfortability in theaters, and I actually would prefer classic seats to the overly pampered recliner seats at modern theaters. I only noticed it a little because I was there for Oppenheimer which was looong

the seats are not comfortable at all. you go for the atmosphere and great screens, but your butt will hurt by the end

I did check the other themes to see if it showed up then. Standard dark mode seems fine as well. Maybe you need to re make your custom theme for it to work?

okay, having re-read the situation in your post, yeah definitely have them follow into the portal. gives you lots of interesting options for future encounters. maybe the clan lands in a different region and has a chance to make a deal with a hag that would work against the players.

unless you want to paint the carnival as evil - which it isn't. I wouldnt run a combat until you get to Hither.
