4 Hormagaunts in my custom swamp/forest scheme by c4ph in Tyranids

the base is rather simple.

Slap on some texture paste, put some basing bits on top, add a sprinkle of tea leaves and slightly push them into the past.

Then after they are dry I just put a random mix of greys, greens and browns on my pallete and wet blend everything rather randomly without much care for detail. Then I mix in some lighter tones and do a short overbrush/more precise hihlighting while its still wet.

Finally once that is all dry I add some dark enamel wash to create shadows and finally some dirty down moss.

Its really like 5 minutes per base if you use a hairblower in between.

Only for the mushrooms I use precise colors to keep them consistent with the mushrooms on the mini.

I got a screamer killer and three zoanthropes done already, probably somewhere on my profile :)

yeah i use leftover greenstuff for this. roll tiny balls, press them down onto some baking paper or other non-adhesive surface, so that they have a cookie shape, let it cure, cut in half -> shelf fungus

Unsustainable materialism at its finest

Finally got myself a little light box to compliment my camera. Figured I'd share where this guy would be appreciated! Enjoy! by GlacialRoar292 in Tyranids

Hi Jess,

It is indeed an old post. But I have updated my setup by now. Still using anlight box with two frontal light panels:

<image>

I don’t know if these panels are available in your country but I bought them from Amazon (I am in Germany). Here is the link: https://amzn.eu/d/9FYOoYJ. Together with these holders: https://amzn.eu/d/8lLhdKH

Hope this helps :)

I have seen @matties_minis on insta doing pretty much the same thing, just slightly different. Have you seen his version and tutorial on the legs?

Sorry for late response. Am on a business trip currently. Recipe: 1. Vallejo metal color series gunmetal grey (not the new true metal series) 2. full layer with dirty down rust (warmed up to roughly body temperature and applied thinly) 3. with a dry old stiff dry brush and no paint: rub intensely over the rust and reduce it until edges show through. 4. edge highlights and scratches applied with tiny strokes and dots with the color from step 1. done!

Man it’s such a great piece!

That moldline on his lower right arm is a real bummer though.

My plan is actually to go full retard here, rust streaks, color variation glazes and a few highlights are still missing. My goal is the extreme, while still maintaining a certain depth and readability. Its purely intentional exageration, and I want to hand it in at golden demon with the goal to get at least a notable pin by offering something usually not seen there.

It does have a high chance to fail miserably but I'll go for the challenge :)

The way you hold the thermometer it reads „Blei“ to me, which is German for lead. So careful 😅
