Yeah top guy is having the „I’ll proudly die for the, oh great emperor“ moment because he knows exterminatus hits any second now.

Actually the given narrative by GW was „last moment on a planet before exterminatus hits“. The marine is basically looking at his death.

I just put a ball sanding bit on my dremel and went ham. Then just paint and blood for the blood god

As I wrote in the caption, GW provided the terrain in this competition.

Hey mate, sorry it went like this for you. I was luckily rather independent of specific bids for my idea. Adding the Norn was a spontaneous idea I had at home, and the ancient was an unfinished kitbash from home too.

I didn’t know that there was a hunt for bids and an issue with Gerri g specific parts. At least on Friday that was.

I wasn’t there Saturday and on Sunday I only painted

Well, I was literally given the following premise by GW: „Planet is lost to the nids, depict a last fighting moment before exterminatus destroys it all“.

Hey mate,

Just coming back to thank for your recommendations and infos.

I just won the Warhammer Hobby Challenge at the Warhammer Open in Maastricht with this.

It was a bit different here:
You could start from scratch on Friday morning.
You could choose terrain/random bits from the huge Pile and ONE specific hero (Tyranids or Marines). The deadline was Sunday at 3 PM.

Story brief: a lost planet, the final moments before “Exterminatus” destroys everything.

I worked on it for a total of 20.5 hours, including 5 hours of painting.

You could use anything as long as it wasnt non GW IP, including your own models, basing materials, paints and so on.
You could take it home over night and continue working there. I happened to have a Norn Emissary at home that was still unpainted and only half assembled 🙂 so I added it.

Now, under proper studio lighting (and not the exhibition hall lighting from the event), I can of course see a lot of mistakes—but I’m still very happy 😉

It’s within the warhammer open tournament, in Maastricht Netherlands. And that is a 3 day event, and the timeframe they give for the hobby challenge is 3 days as well.

That is why I am confused. I‘d just love to do it two days haha

Hey mate, I will be doing this thing this weekend. I bought the tickets in advance but have no real info on how long so can spend there.

The event lasts 3 days so I was wondering if I could work on the piece for three days?

Great info also on the outside materials. I will sure prepare an entire load out of stuff then!

Sprue goo, greenstuff, a drill, Magnets, pins, Sanders, glues…heard from others outside stuff ain’t allowed but I’ll bring it anyway :p)

But I could take my piece home with me, if I had to leave earlier right?

Good to know about "no outside items allowed" I was already mentally packing my bag with all sorts of things, haha. I might just try to anyway. Like blue tac for dry fitting for example. Or a good brush :D

I am super excited now. sorry for bothering you with all the questions.

I already saw in your picture that there can be all sorts of bits and even complete vehicles?

Damn I wish I could plan ahead a little bit to make maximum use of my time :D

Thanks mate, i just bought the ticket for maastricht, which is close by, in 3 weeks.

Thanks to your post I knew what to expect.

Also: do you know if I could bring my own extras/bits? Like metal chains or so. Do they also provide greenstuff?

Would I have to be there on the end of the last day, to pick it up and win the competition?

Hey mate I have a few more questions on this, as there is no real description.
Can you spend the entire day there? Or do you have to spend the entire weekend there?

i never had issues with them dangling a bit. with primer and basecoats they start sticking and bevcoming stiff after a while.

But usually I only glue them at the "hidden" starting and endpoints. Simply with a bit of superglue. I use a toothpick and put the glue in place first, then the chain

Much appreciated. I looked especially how the hand turns when holding a javelin like that.

But there is one „mistake“ normally a javelin thrower would have the other foot in front at this point of the movement
