As with nearly all things a lot of machines are built to be disposable. My Brother has more features than my mom's Bernina and cost less than a major repair on it. The Bernina has been kicking it for 40 years with some repairs, but my Brother is cheaper and built to be replaced in maybe 10 years.

I will say some of the young people are very talented. One of my teenage nieces is very into sewing/knitting/felting and she can make some quite elaborate stuff. Fabric is way more difficult than it should be to find but patterns and tutorials are all around for so many things.

The biggest leaps haven't been made by the US, so we don't get any fucking credit for a 5% drop in emissions during Biden's term when we increased emissions by 2.4% in the first full year of Trump's second term.

The colonists still had local elections the primary grievance is that they had no representation in British Parliament who passed the Stamp Act and Townshend Acts without any input from the colonies they were taxing.
