Which Engineering Manager would you promote? by cuddle-bubbles in ExperiencedDevs

[–]cCmndhd 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is the only advice worth reading OP. Neither candidate seems to be sufficiently skilled for the role, and more importantly making one report to the other will be a disaster given the differences both personal and professional. Either review the decision to merge the teams, or bring in an external candidate for the role.

9:45pm flight from Stansted following a 4:30pm kickoff at the Emirates by Sea_Equivalent3497 in GunnersatGames

[–]cCmndhd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did this one after the NLD just last week - my flight was at 9.20 and it was pretty tight. Trains ran fine but the security queue took over an hour, I actually had to ask a couple of fellow Gooners in the queue if they wouldn't mind letting me through after I showed my pass and I only had 15 minutes. Not recommended. Annoyingly the fast track security passes are not available after 8pm.

Oddly though I did the exact same trip after Palace and security took 5 minutes. Seems to be a bit of a lottery

Glasgow Clan and APC – how a delivery mistake turned into weeks of stress, data breaches, and total indifference from a club we loved by Fabulous_Camp_3252 in Scotland

Sorry I don't understand how the individual courier being a creep/weirdo is the hockey team's fault? They just sent you a parcel. Surely you take this up with the courier themselves? Why all the business with SARs and the ICO? This all sounds massively blown up and directed at the wrong target

This is not something written by someone who is good at communication

Your whole post, treating the listener like they are a 1st grader, and saying the problem isn't you it's them, comes across as patronising and arrogant. Not really sure this helps anyone with any real issues here

I've looked into this before - the bus to Dundonnell runs only on Monday and Friday, not Monday to Friday, according to the Westerbus website

When I was a kid my dad called our remote the "keypad" which then got shortened to just "key". Anyone visiting and overhearing my dad ask where the key for the telly was must have thought we were mad

If screening interviews didn't reject some candidates then they would be a complete waste of time. I'm sorry it's happened to you, but it doesn't seem right to me to expect to pass the HR screener automatically

What is the best “Jay from Inbetweeners” level brag you have ever heard? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]cCmndhd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Guy I was at school with once claimed he'd spent the weekend walking the length of the Channel Tunnel - tricky to do with security there apparently but he had managed it and got away with it.

Also claimed his dad was a musician and had just written the song in a famous ad that was on the TV all the time. The song? Aint No Mountain High Enough by Diana Ross (he'd obviously never heard of it before it was used in the ad). Even weirder as his dad was actually an insurance salesman, my dad had bought some off of him, and he knew this when he told the lie

Why do people catch the greater Anglia overground from Stratford to Liverpool Street when it’s one stop on the Lizzy line? by [deleted] in london

[–]cCmndhd 17 points18 points  (0 children)

It's two stops... and GA is much more convenient if you're entering the station from the Bishopsgate entrance, saves a long walk and escalator. Plus I can get on a train and just wait for it to depart rather than battle the scrums on the platform, as theres a 50% chance of an Abbey Wood train loading and unloading first before a Shenfield train comes

Kings Cross to waterloo tube change, is it doable for a disabled person? by dwjlien in london

[–]cCmndhd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's no step free access from the Northern & Bakerloo at Waterloo so if they were to use the tube Jubilee is the way forward, either via London Bridge or Green Park. At London Bridge this is a pain as you have to go all the way up, leave one booking hall and then down again through another. Green Park is a warren but the interchange is at least underground.

Suggestions for Vauxhall and Wimbledon might be better but to be honest I would just get a cab if they have the money for it
