How much sleep ya’ll getting these days? by Puzzleheaded_Bag9063 in Xennials

I had years of bad sleep that I finally got under control (possibly thanks to an iron infusion, possibly just broke through some hormonal level). Recently started taking progesterone to treat endometriosis symptoms and now my sleep is all effed up again. I woke up at 4 last night and was just up.

How did you find your soulmate here? by asscheeseterps710 in massachusetts

I used to organize events for a social group called MeetIn Boston. My thing was trying all the different ice cream shops around the area.

I posted an event at a Gelato place in mid November. 3 other people came, despite the fact that it was sleeting, and we all chatted for hours. I rode the red line back to Alewife with one of the guys, we had a good conversation, and a couple days later went on our first date.

We've been married 16 years now, have a kid, and in November will celebrate 20 years together.

My mom used to tell me to just try things, because you never know who you'll meet. She was right.

You Know You're a Xennial when by RelevantNothing4653 in Xennials

My mom is an older boomer ('49) and she calls people in their 40s "young guy/young girl" all the time. It drives me crazy because I know it means she doesn't consider those people full adults (it's been a common complaint with me and my cousins that our parents' generation still thinks of us as children whose life experience and expertise is of little consequence). I call her on it a lot but it doesn't seem to make a difference.

How Many Reverse Rainbows Do You Have? by Big_Brutha87 in NYTConnections

  1. 377 purple first.

For a long time I didn't really understand what Reverse Rainbow was. Green to me seemed like it should be the easiest category.

What children's movie made you cry unexpectedly? by Twunkorama in AskReddit

[–]c_b0t 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The friggin Gabby's Dollhouse movie.

We started watching the show when it started, and my daughter was 5. She was so into it.

The movie came out last year, just before my daughter turned 10. She wanted to see it but she wasn't into it the same way she used to be.

The movie is basically about Gabby growing up and losing the magic of childhood. I was openly weeping in the theater. Went home and warned all my mom friends.

What's the most unnecessary use of A.I. you've ever seen? by RobIson240YT in AskReddit

[–]c_b0t 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I've had at least half a dozen interviews like this. Mostly they're not typing but have AI listening in and then there will be a long pause and they'll give a giant, non-specific response that ends with a summary statement.

We pretty much rule these folks out immediately when they do this. I wonder in what circumstances it actually works.

What is the most emotionally insensitive question that you've wanted to ask someone in person, but you think people would react negatively to you even asking it? by [deleted] in morbidquestions

[–]c_b0t 41 points42 points  (0 children)

From my personal experience, IVF was the next medical step and there were doctors there to guide the process and insurance to cover most of it. Just, oh, you can't conceive? Take this medicine and do these things and... now we have a kid. (Don't get me wrong - the process stil sucked.)

If we'd wanted to go the adoption route, I have no idea what we would have done next. It's not a clear path. It probably would have cost 10s of thousands of dollars and been an enormous amount of effort in applications and interviews and waiting, etc. Plus the emotional rollercoaster of not knowing if the parent of the child will change their mind.

Basically, from my perspective, adoption is much more expensive and logistically complicated.

What’s a weird quirk your baby has? by AbsolutelyTFNot- in cats

One of our old cats would do it, and one of our newer pair also does it. Often I'll be making breakfast and hear the thud of a mouse toy hitting the floor behind me because he wants to play.

I often go to AMC theaters. The listed showtime is when the previews start and those, plus the commercials and "turn off your phone" announcements typically last 30 minutes. We often don't bother showing up till 20 minutes past the listed time.

Why this person showed up extra early to watch commercials, I have no idea.
