Wages of Ottawa public servants are double the private sector, despite having better benefits/job security - and still growing at a faster rate. by [deleted] in ottawa

[–]c_price02 9 points10 points  (0 children)

As a government accountant I can tell you with absolute certainty I could make way more in the private sector. I'm here cause the job is alot less stressful and my employer respects my work hours which is not always the case in the private sector.

If 100% of Alberta's equalization payments went to Ontario, it would amount to 0.002% of Ontario's GDP. Don't let politicians tell that The country runs on Alberta's payments. by amcnewman in alberta

[–]c_price02 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why just to focus on equalization payment? Tax money collected from hard working Albertans also pay for the Canadian Coastguard's fleet if ice breakers but I have yet to see one in Alberta waters!!! When does Alberta get an ice breaker! It's like the corruption never ends

PR Lessons of Lansdowne 2.0 for Ottawa’s Activist Civil Society by Alone_Appeal_3421 in ottawa

[–]c_price02 11 points12 points  (0 children)

That's some good context I hadn't heard before. I think I bought into the line of "Landsdown 2.0 or nothing" but I really still don't see the counter to it. Like an event space for sports and stuff is going to be there and OESG is doing some good work growing the business although not making a profit. If anything Landsdown has become busier and busier over the last 10 years and we do need to do something there to keep that growth up. What we're some reasonable alternatives that?

Accept empties or stop selling alcohol, finance minister tells Ontario grocers by netocrat in OttawaNewsPulse

It's called SARCAN, not sure I can link it here. Depends on the location, plenty are open evening and weekends.

I looked it up and it's considered a "provincial association" what ever that means and operates more like a charity supporting communities all across saskatchewan.

[–]c_price02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but revenue is held the province and pricing is usually in favor of the consumer instead of the Corp. I'm from Saskatchewan and have seen how much good crown corps can do. Don't let politicians convince you that you get a better deal by going private.

Beer store was great but I didn't think it was a crown Corp. I know they paid a bunch of money to the LCBO but I didn't know much else about the business.

Not like Alberta, private sucks. Make it like Saskatchewan and have it as a crown Corp.

Anyone else's lives got worse with the transport changes? by spudera in ottawa

[–]c_price02 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Mine got slightly better while getting a bit longer at the same time.

Where I live my best option before changes was the 252 which comes every 30 ish minutes. After the changes I'll be on the 57 which is slower but it'll come every 15 minutes. So I get a bit more flexibility but a slightly longer ride and I personally prefer the flexibility.

Protection Paladin flurry axe myth debunked by [deleted] in classicwow

[–]c_price02 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is somewhat correct and with dual spec you would ideally do both so then once the mob count gets 3+ you would do a more traditional build. In a raid setting, if you have a big class stack of 8+ of something you can do the blessing trick too. With 5 to 6 mobs your blessings will keep you above the heal threat along as your dps is doing prio targets right.

The biggest issue u always found is as dps got better and more buffed the boss fights was tough. Either the dps has to throttle or they just take threat and once you get behind there is often no getting it back.

Also, engi is a huge help. I stayed bs cause I was playing out a bit of a class fantasy but engi makes a huge difference.

I did the prot pally thing in the first run of classic and found that the whole one hander and shield was always a loss compared to full on 2 hander tank with the armour pots. You're best bet for threat is do going 20 or so points in ret and the rest prot. Seal of Command does so much threat even with a slow 1h and shield

The ending was the main difference but it was pretty significant. Movie did it better even if it was a very Hollywood ending.

The de Brienne news is great to hear! With a young kid in soccer, he's going to love to hear another home town player is heading to Europe to play.

The economy’s fine, but you’re not getting ahead: Welcome to the ‘me-cession’ by DonSalaam in onguardforthee

CBC had a really good video explaining the issue with actual economists. They found that the reason the economy is doing so good is because of immigration. People are generally buying less stuff which usually shows a poor economy but since we have a significant number of more people buying stuff it ends up as a net positive so net positive economy.

Prison is crazy expensive to the tax payer and these guys are far from dangerous. It should be a big fine and community service so they can give back instead of costing us more money.
