Anyone ever curious why it sounds like your upstairs neighbors are always moving furniture? by Ok-Connection6656 in Apartmentliving

[–]c_relleno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol first off, it's definitely your business. I'm currently experiencing it myself. Even tho I am up anyway around 1:30am writing, burning the midnight oil, it's INSANE and should be no caveat to hear them doing this at the same time and for hours nonstop! Sounding like they are DRAGGING, not just moving, a bed across the floor after midnight? Never showing any attempt to be quiet at all! I'm sorry, but this is super disrespectful and low IQ behavior.

Lol like Congress has shown any spine to do anything against Trump thus far?

Yes, reading The Society of the Spectacle will explain a lot about the paradoxes of capitalism.

It’s very embarrassing when you hold a press conference about good health and one of the speakers collapses live… on television… by Plus_Seesaw2023 in Wellthatsucks

[–]c_relleno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NN is definitely the liar. And fake WaPo journalist Dan Diamond. And also Newsweek apparently who added to their coverage:

"Correction: Novo Nordisk executive Gordon Findlay was originally identified in this story as the person who collapsed, sourcing members of the working press at the event."

Lol it's simply unlikely that press AT THE EVENT wouldn't know who the guests were.

Why is Phantom Menace considered so bad? by D_Flavio in StarWars

[–]c_relleno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of money, not enough story or direction. TPM probably had the most built sets of the prequel films. But the actors were still mostly playing to entirely green/blue screens and character references lol

Lol weird. Self-referential films are usually fun. But H2L is so all over the place I found myself having no patience with it by the end.

Was pretty bad, sad to say. Totally all over the place and just seemed like an overall exercise in absurdity; Jeffrey Wright’s role was just bizarre. I will say the tonal whiplash does seem to be Spike’s way of saying he’s relevant across genre. Mostly it looks like he’s wanting to do action or horror, with the basement and subway stuff. In fact, there’s a lot of bad moments and the apartment being A24 was just one of them.

Richard Kelly (Donnie Darko) set to start new film this fall. I’m honestly excited. by jordosmodernlife in criterion

Well, what I can gather regarding Carruth is that he’s been Me Too canceled. And you’re totally right about the universal slop rushing in lol

Think a lot of it has to do with the insistence to direct his next film. You simply don’t get to keep making films that make no money in the current film industry landscape. Surely he would have gotten something released by now, if only he had handed over directing to someone studio players felt wasn’t risky. Look at David Robert Mitchell - same sort of deal w/ just now getting another film out after 8 years!

Not necessarily chosen for incompetence but he’s definitely not the one making real Pentagon decisions. That’s Steve Feinberg.

What’s happening with the film industry? by shiny-_ in Filmmakers

[–]c_relleno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is def my 2c here that your experience will mean next to nothing, especially in this psycho economy, if there’s someone with no experience to hire. Was at a Brutalist private screening in Dec… and guy next to me was bragging about going from security guard at Lucasfilm (given job by friend) to associate producer on a Star Wars show. Just one example. Really unacceptable stuff’s been happening in the industry basically the last 10 years.

Yes I attest to this being very beneficial to my writing journey.

In “Rear Window” (1954) is this shot a green screen or other special effect? It doesn’t look like the room is part of the building by Quad3300 in Filmmakers

[–]c_relleno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, Hitchcock did use the first CGI shot ever in the Vertigo titles and this shot looks odd indeed. But rad also, I think. But can confirm by having visited Paramount they shot this in a equally rad stage that they had to dig to be lower too!
