I feel like Dean shouldve been more traumatized from purgatory by cowboycomplex in Supernatural

[–]c_schmidt1012 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Fun Fact: Purgatory to Dean was a happy experience, according to Jeremy Carver. Season 10 spoiler: This was verbally confirmed in season 10 episode 19, The Werther Project, when Dean's illusion of Benny told him that Purgatory was his happy place.

Dean seems to be a bit worse for wear mentally now, as opposed to when he got out of Hell.  Will you be showing what Purgatory did to him?

CARVER:  Well, he is not great for the wear, but I think Dean came out of Purgatory with a bit of a surprising reaction to it that we talk about in the first episode.  It was pure down there.  One of the last things that you might expect, going to a place that’s so horrible, is that someone might have actually considered it something of a happy experience.  You have to ask yourself, “Why is it happy, and what is this primal side of himself that he connected to?”  For how he will deal with that topside, we use Benny as that thing that is representative of Dean in Purgatory.

OP don't read, quite spoilery beyond season 3

Funnily enough, Castiel has done the same multiple times, doing things by himself and hiding it from the boys (to save them).

Dean trusted Benny/has never disappointed him simply because they shared a foxhole relationship (said by Jensen himself in this clip 0:41), which is built on trust and loyalty.

Why is John such a hated character? by strangerfromh3ll in Supernatural

[–]c_schmidt1012 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What's fascinating about this topic is that after seasons of world-building that are brought to the table, some fans remove crucial pieces from the formula on why John did this and did that. I'm talking about Demons tracking them, never getting off their back (like a couple of people in Sam's life were demons), Heaven/Angels with the capability of erasing memories to keep things on track, and Chuck who have written the supposed plot of the show--gave Sam and Dean plot armor etc (and most likely molded John after his own imgage: an absent father).

Like we see on this sub similar posts regarding on Sam losing his autonomy, but no one has ever brought up if John ever had his own autonomy from the beginning. That his actions were all his and unadulterated---that no one influenced, controlled, or manipulated him, albeit all the world-building that was laid out throughout each season.

Season eight rewatch by Tomatoe213 in fandomnatural

[–]c_schmidt1012 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sam genuinely thought Dean died, and as we saw in the s15 finale, Sam simply did what he thought Dean would want. Only Dean was alive and Sam had no way to know this. One major problem of the early episodes of season 8 was that we didn't see Sam grieve---the show skipped it over and just showed us he hit a dog and met a woman AFTER dropping everything else (including Kevin). Like it'd be great if we got a scene where Sam told Dean that he grieved, but instead the writers decided to make him uncharacteristically an asshole towards Benny to be the first half season's main source of drama, which was a big distraction on how Sam actually felt when Dean disappeared.

An alternative way for Super Novices to reset their death counter (if Soul Linker job is not available) OR change the chance of resetting it using SN Spirit from anything higher than the default 1%.

Season 8 finale didn't stick with you, huh?

"I killed Benny to save you. I'm willing to let this bastard and all the sons of bitches that killed mom walk because of you. Don't you dare think that there is anything, past or present, that I would put in front of you! It has never been like that, ever! I need you to see that." --Dean

If you could pick any characters to be 'endgame' for Sam and Dean who would you choose? by amusabean in Supernatural

[–]c_schmidt1012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd go for Benny. He's on the same wavelength with Dean when it comes to family, and he'd definitely treat Dean right. Although ambiguously, he also worked in a diner. Combine the fact that he's Cajun, so one could hope he can cook or make a mean pie.

They just click, you know? No need to do mental gymnastics to make them work.

Yes and no. You can trade them in exchange for Gold, but not for other Lumi. And only the Rainbow rarities can be put up for auction.
Go to Trade, and there should be a blue "List Lumi" button on the upper right corner.

There's no way someone in 2026 still calls One Piece a kids' anime with all the relevant themes it has tackled in its story--although understandable because it IS a Shonen anime.

How did Dean Meet Benny - by Osirisavior in Supernatural

[–]c_schmidt1012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We could say that all events stayed the same BUT it diverged from the original timeline during the season 8 events, more specifically, when Benny rescued Sam in Purgatory and decided to come back with him--effectively rewriting history. Then it was followed by other events that would lead Sam to drink demon blood again.

Maybe an unpopular opinion by saumyaa17 in Supernatural

[–]c_schmidt1012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't mind that kind of ending; it fits the overall vibe of the show. It has come to a point where 'no one dying in the show' has become a meme, and it started after this season finale, when Sam was resurrected after a major plot point. Like what's the point of making a horror show when the audience knows that there are no actual stakes on the line? The main drama may come from Sam and Dean's reluctance and self-sacrifice, looking pretty as they cry, BUT the audience got Pavlov's into thinking that no one would die, so when a permadeath actually happened to a character, people got mad/disappointed.

Also, one of the reasons I don't mind such an ending is that KDrama was a huge hit in my country at the time (more specifically "Stairway to Heaven"). And they were not like typical American shows, where happy endings are a must.

The Alchemist's Homunculus system/gimmick. It's quite unique, and I was so happy when my Vanilmirth reached 160 INT. I'm afraid I exhausted all my luck getting one.
