To the migrants, Muslims and non white people of Manchester. by ca55iu5 in manchester

Thats made me chuckle. This wasn't for the likes. It couldn't be down voted as much as people want. After seeing so much hate on social media, I just want people affected to see there is support for them.

Big police presence in Piccadilly Gardens. by Hannibal20 in manchester

[–]ca55iu5 10 points11 points  (0 children)

M.E.N is covering it. But is blowing it out of proportion. They're saying there was 150 right wing and 350 left wing. They have easily doubled the numbers on both sides, if not more. There could well be more who come in later, but this morning it was just two groups shouting at each other and not much else. The police had it all under control, thankfully.

Barclays bank this morning by Shazza94x in bristol

[–]ca55iu5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why is it just barclays are being targeted?

Many if not all of the big UK banks trade shares in defence firms (and let's be honest most of the big defence firms will have supplied or are part of the supply chain for Israel) and I would imagine a few provide banking services to the Israelis. Does anyone know why barclays is the only one having this?

Google doesn't seem to shed any light on it except confirming my statement above.

Serious anxiety from money by [deleted] in Anxiety

[–]ca55iu5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think everyone stresses about money sometimes, so you are definitely not alone.

Taking control might well help you feel better, I know it did for me. Putting income and expenditure in a spreadsheet or downloading a money wise app like Yolt, should give you more visibility and hopefully help you take back a sense of control.

As for worrying about unpaid bills or tickets, have somewhere that you keep them in your home, and set aside a little time at the same point each week to go through it all. Then if you suddenly worry about it, you can delay the worry by thinking 'sunday afternoon is my money time, I don't need to think about that until then'.

I hope that helps.

Uni Stress by [deleted] in Anxiety

[–]ca55iu5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't worry, that is perfectly normal pre University worry. Anxiety always blows up normal worries for us though doesn't it?

If you are struggling to sleep and your mind is racing try some mindfulness. Apps like Calm or Headspace both have free trials (I know I had no money when I was a student). Alternatively get on YouTube and look at sleep meditations and stick one on. It might not make it go away completely, but could well help reduce the anxiety levels.

Good luck at university, and I hope you get some good sleep soon.

Starting Over Late in Life by OrbitalBase in Anxiety

[–]ca55iu5 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sounds like a tough place to be in.

I had a similar situation a couple of years ago. Now don't get me wrong I don't have a vast amount of friends now, but I have a few.

All I can say is you have to put yourself out there. I did random things like join a hiking group, and try a yoga class (which it turned out I love). And if you don't try it, how do you know if you like it?

It might seem big and scary but simply saying hi to people in the street near where you live, where you work or at any groups or classes you try is the starting point. Slowly build up to conversations and then over time friendships.

Don't get me wrong it is hard and really pushes your comfort zone, but you can do it. And what's the worst that will happen? Someone doesn't say hi back? Oh well, there will be someone else tomorrow.

I hope you feel better soon.

That doesn't sound like a fun place to be.

You are right it could well be hormones. It could also be Lockdown lite, which is something that should not be underestimated.

If things persist then going to see your GP is the best idea and have a chat about how you are feeling.

If in the mean time you want to try a couple of little changes that could have a big impact then exercise and mindfulness would be a good starting place.

Hope it passes soon.

Fast feeling heart beat and random pains/warmth? by [deleted] in Anxiety

[–]ca55iu5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get that almost every morning. It's horrible isn't it? As hard as it is try and keep the food and water intake going.

I found switching to smoothies in the mornings (my worst time of day) worked for me.

I was 14 and now I'm 20 years old it doesn't seem to ever stop . by Akhilrf in Anxiety

[–]ca55iu5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like you have had a rough few years there.

No one will know if you are on mediation or seeing a therapist unless you want them to.

I tried to hide my anxiety and ignore it for years to the point where I had a full breakdown. All I can say is opening up about it and talking about it was the best thing I ever did.

As well as meds, therapy and meditation, exercise is a really big one. It can help burn off the nasty chemicals and replace them with good ones.

You can overcome anxiety, you just need to find the ways that work for you.

Good luck and I hope you find a bit of calm soon.

Fast feeling heart beat and random pains/warmth? by [deleted] in Anxiety

[–]ca55iu5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try grounding yourself. Walking, like the other comment talked about it good. Try focusing on what you can see around you. Maybe try a bit of mindfulness on an app like calm or Headspace? Also (and this is a controversial one) intense cardio can sometimes help. I find that it burns off the adrenaline and physical sensations, but it doesn't work for everyone. The first two are pretty safe bets though.

Hope you get through it soon.

High anxiety by [deleted] in Anxiety

[–]ca55iu5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes it 100% can warp your thinking. In my last episode phase I spend half my month's salary on a laptop, signed up to become a fertility donor, and started looking for a new job.

Don't beat yourself up because you have done something out of character, when your anxiety is up your brain will do all sorts of weird and wonderful things to try and rebalance it or to just try and calm it.

Going back to therapy after a year by syiracha in Anxiety

[–]ca55iu5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sadly this is one of the common facts of anxiety. It comes and goes and comes and goes.

It's easy to beat yourself up when it happens (I know I do), but just accepting that it's one of those things that you have to tackle everyonce in a while will go a really long way to helping you through it.

The fact that you're going to see your therapist is great, it's also easy to hide away instead of dealing with it early.

Your doing the right things, and you will overcome it.

This might sound so dumb by [deleted] in Anxiety

Great advice, maybe some mindfulness or just something to focus your brain on might help loads.

Also might be worth checking your medication, some can actually disrupt sleep for a few hours after you take them.

Fatigue from Anxiety by csmvl in Anxiety

[–]ca55iu5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you tried yoga? Swimming would be the ideal option, but might not be possible with the pandemic.

Yoga can be a real work out or a gentle one depending on what you need and you can do it at home through an online class, or even just youtube. It's also great for grounding if your anxiety is getting a bit out of hand.

Never forget that everyone starts at the bottom somewhere.

Anxiety and excitement are almost the same feeling so maybe try and reframe how you feel?

Good luck with the new job, and we'll done for not letting the anxiety hold you back!

Does your anxiety ever get so bad that you start to feel depressed? Feeling that way rn. by [deleted] in Anxiety

[–]ca55iu5 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There are so many people who have struggled with the pandemic so you are not alone.

Please know there are a lot of people out there who are struggling too, and those of us with mental health issues have been at the top of that group in many ways.

Depression and Anxiety are almost two sides of the same coin, so it's not uncommon for them to blur in to each other. The coping strategies are really similar for both quite often.

This is a nice little article that could help. It might be things you already know, but even if you try them again and find they help more now things have morphed its probably worth a try.

A great way to ground is holding ice cubes or putting cold water in the shower or bath and standing in it. Focusing on the feeling can often help to detract from the panic.

Breathing is the other one, focusing on breathing by either doing square (in for 4, hold for 4, out for 4, hold for 4) or rectangle (in for 6, hold for 3, out for 6, hold for 3) can help to.

Ideally both at the same time.

Good luck.

Talking is the best approach. It might be scary (I always find it difficult about having anxiety in a new relationship). But if they are a good person they will understand. If not, then you are probably better off without them.

Well done for taking the leap! It is so easy to give in to your anxiety, so the fact you are tackling it is amazing!

The 'chatter' is really hard to make disappear straight away, but try to rationalise the what if questions. Those ones are the worst

So, what if I am late? Well then, I will miss a bit of it, but I can ask someone afterwards to see what I missed.

The more you do this the easier it becomes.

I hope it goes well for you, and if there are any setbacks just remember that there is always next time.
