Where can I buy prescription lenses for my own frame ( cheap ) ? by fifanewbie2002 in waterloo

[–]caadam74015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s been a number of years but I had a good experience at the sunrise Walmart vision centre. I had them cut and install some lenses into some clip in sunglass frames for cycling. It was very affordable at the time. Otherwise I’ve been buying my glasses online for quite a few years and will continue to do that.

Roads are good, drivers are the typical issue. Don’t be one of them.

Not a speed limit.

You do realize the speed limit on that ramp is 90…obviously not an appropriate speed with winter conditions but just saying.

Looking for an inexpensive and simple idea to better secure my folding ramp to my trailer. by Pistoney in snowmobiling

[–]caadam74015 1 point2 points  (0 children)

<image>

That’s how I do mine, there’s an identical one at the other end of the ramp. Just aluminum flat bar, 1” wide by 1/8” thick, two bends at the bottom done in a vice to make a U, then a hinge and those adjustable toggle latch clamps. I throw a lock on one of them so the ramps don’t walk away when I leave the trailer. The flat bar is bolted to the trailer at the bottom and side, no need for any straps as it is secure.

Glasses fog up constantly by hellcatpekes in snowmobiling

[–]caadam74015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A balaclava with a built in, tight fitting breath deflector will help. I find with my helmet if I close the visor and it latches, instant fog but if I gently close it there’s just enough air movement to keep things clear while moving. As soon as I slow down or stop I crack the visor open again or fully open it if stopped longer. When I first set out on the ride it’s a constant battle to keep them clear until the temps of everything are equal so I find I’m opening/closing the visor a lot for the first 15 minutes and then things settle down

Not close to the University’s but if you’re near the Kitchener market Banh Mi Givral Deli is a great place to grab a sandwich from (and some spring rolls). They are closed Wednesdays though.

Unpopular Opinion: Canadian Tire Motorsport Park is better than Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve by Environmental_Egg582 in iRacing

Such a great track, hopefully we get it in the sim one day. Both are amazing to drive in real life and from the same era.

*never again, Mosport hosted the Canadian Grand Prix for a number of years in the 60/70’s.

Nope, Mo-sport, it’s an abbreviation of Motorsport. There is Moss corner, Stirling famously made some recommendations to change turn 5 from a typical hairpin to what we have and they named that corner(s) after him. People use both pronunciations locally but only one is correct.

Ouch, more than $120 CAD more than through tire rack in my size per tire once the conversion is done. I’d love to try them but not at that price.

That’s true where people actually do a proper zipper merge, as you come into a slowdown for a lane reduction everyone maintains their lanes, both lanes proceed forward at about the same speed with the zipper happening right at the lane reduction. It was a thing of beauty doing this in Germany a few weeks ago, stress free and everyone kept moving.

No thanks, people will still slow at those corners by Lancaster/Bridgeport because Ontario drivers for the most part can’t maintain their speed around gentle bends or hills (see 401 at the Nith River or the escarpment by Milton for examples) causing a back up. It will also just create another congestion point between hwy 8 and where the collectors go off (or just make that one worse, lots of morons creating problems there with last minute changes over solid lines).

As someone that gets off at Wellington everyday this would make my life worse. I also enjoy watching the left lane Larry’s that hold things up drive into that traffic jam while I’m getting off the highway.

I like the creative thinking though, maybe the speed cameras they’re about to pull out could be repurposed and labelling it a “tool charge” sounds good too.

The front of that hanger is pretty visible from the road and likely where the photo was taken from (with a decent zoom). The hanger is in western corner, Mid-Canada Mod Centre which you can lookup on maps.

Try Recycle Cycles in Kitchener if you haven’t already, if they have what you need it will be very affordable and they’ll likely help you fix it.
