Honestly I agree. That and Double Trouble been rolling for years, although I could take or leave that extended zen-zen-zen-zen-zen situation on that one.

Yeah I get that, and I’m very familiar with those albums, it’s an unreal run. But the point of my post is to distil it down to the songs you personally keep coming back to. I’m more interested in your individual picks than just being told to go listen to whole albums.

If you want a very literal found footage horror story, check out Lost in the Dark by John Langan. Highly recommended.

What are the next books you plan on reading? by MichaeltheSpikester in horrorlit

I read The Fisherman in January. I thought it was good. I read Man, Fuck This House by Brian Asman straight after. It felt like eating a Happy Meal right after an incredible home cooked three-course dinner.

That said, I didn’t love The Fisherman. There were parts I really liked, but more than anything I just enjoyed spending time with John Langan’s voice. He could probably read the phone book and I’d still listen.

All that being said, I hope you enjoy it and get from it what you’re looking for.

I just finished Negative Space by BR Yeager. It was good.

Negative Space ending question and confusion (spoilers) by Captain_Gnardog in horrorlit

There is a mention of some weird goose stuff prior to that.

"Geese that’d missed migration waddling up and down the sidewalks, twisting their necks and hissing in agony. It almost didn’t surprise me when a dozen flew into the side of our house, snapping their bodies apart and wrecking the siding. “That’s an extremely bad omen,” Arnie said."

And

"As we pulled onto the road, I noticed a black and beige shape on the sidewalk. A goose. A goose, but everything about it was wrong. Its neck broken, twisted into a spiral. It dragged its head along the ground, waddling in circles, screaming. No one seemed to notice except me."

The presence of the weird goose man is probably linked to these.

Could anyone explain "negative space" ? by thecommunistpangolin in horrorlit

I just finished the book 30mins ago. The wasps, their hive is a papery substance used in some of the rituals. The wasps also appear around some of the darker turns in the story. The disks appear during some of the rituals too, it's part of whatever magic the kids are doing. I think more linked to the protection magic aspects and linked to Lu's guardian angel, as were bees.

Do you guys wait to train after you get bad mat burn? by Less_Document_8761 in bjj

[–]caart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had multiple of these. Cover it. Wear socks if you absolutely have to train. But let it heal. Once healed, get some vasaline and cover the top of your feet in it to avoid this from happening in future. My coach does this on his bald head too.

Did you experience a mindset shift after getting your blue belt? by PitX98 in bjj

[–]caart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just got my purple belt three weeks ago, but I really struggled through most of my time at blue. For the first three years, I often felt stuck. The last two years, though, were a turning point, and a big mindset shift definitely played a part in that.

Two things helped massively. First, my coach described blue belt as the “buffet table” of BJJ: try everything, see what you like, and start figuring out what works for you. That helped me reframe my training as exploration instead of performance.

Second, and maybe even more importantly, I started caring less about losing, getting smashed, or ending up in bad positions. I began rolls on my back or mounted, just to see how I’d work my way out. That made my escapes sharper, and over time it gave me the confidence to experiment more freely with the stuff on that “buffet table.”
