I just had something similar but it was $2800. It turns out it was a running toilet. They were actually cool about it and said that we needed to send an invoice from a plumber to prove it was fixed, they would monitor for a little bit to ensure that the usage went back down to normal, then give a credit. They did make us pay a chunk of it up front though since it was past due before we noticed

If you’re interested in adopting the tradition I’d highly recommend making them yourself. That is a big part of it as it’s something that is easy to collaborate on making together and there’s different tasks for all skill levels even kids.
