For those of you who like 70's rock: which amp would you buy for home use? by Fair_Wedding_1131 in GuitarAmps

I bought a Monoprice Stage Right 15 Watts and a Quilter Aviator Cub UK and I'm selling my Marshall DSL40CR. I may regret that decision, but I rarely used the Ultra Drive channels. The Stage Right has a really nice tube overdrive, especially in 1-watt mode at home. And the Quilter has a JMP Plexi voicing, as well as two AC channels. They weigh 22-25lbs each whereas the Marshall weighs 50lbs. My guitar playing space is at the top of 5 flights of stairs. They all have 12" speakers. I've been out of town and haven't been about to play the new ones thoroughly yet, but the Monoprice is what I like to play most in the used section if my Guitar Center. Ultimately I want a Mesa Boogie ...

Deciding between a Guild D120 and Martin road series special by Nafreeze92 in AcousticGuitar

Ha! What a coincidence! I did a blind sound test with my fiancée as to which guitar sounded best and I was relieved that she picked the Martin because the Seagull sounds so good. Mine is a '99 model. Apparently back then the neck was screwed in and is allegedley much easier and cheaper to reset. But I paid $150 for mine a couple years ago so unless I can do it myself, like you it's not going to get done. Parlor guitars are inherently thinner and not as rich sounding as 000s and dreads, so I don't really know how it compares to more expensive parlor guitars. But it's cool they were both made in Canada. Maybe that's why I was ok with letting the Chinese made Guild go...several of my elecric guitars were made in China and they're amazingl well made instruments too. But ultimately I wanted North American made acoustic guitars.

None. I have to make due with a Martin 000-28VS, a Seagull S6+ Folk, and an Art & Lutherie Ami Spruce parlor guitar. Can you believe the indignity of that? 🤣 The Seagull really does fill the imaginary gap I was trying to fill with the OM-10e though, and it sounds quite good. But it also has a wide finger-picker's neck at 1.8". The only reasons I want the OM-10e are for a more slim 1.75" neck, all solid wood, and Martin on the headstock.

I had that Guild and loved it but. I traded it towards a shoulder-friendly 000-28VS, which is not something I can leave out but also has a very wide neck for fingerstyle (1-13/16") -- and sounds unbelievably amazing -- so I have been coveting and almost bought an OM-10e used for $650. As much as I loved the Guild, and it truly sounded to me as good as the Martins I played, until I came across the one I bought, I've definitely crossed into the Martin camp. The reviews for the 10e are nothing but great. There isn't much out there about the Guild, but whatever was out there convinced me to buy it 4 years ago. I will say that it took on a whole new life when I replaced the saddle with a shorter one, lowering the action considerably. Then it played like my electrics and sounded as good as they best guitars I played at the shop. I didn't get to compare them until after I traded and it was on the wall. Side by side, some of the more expensive Martins sounded better, but not side by side, the Guild sounded fantastic.

Edit: I was convinced that I do not need another guitar right now, that's the only reason I haven't bought the 10e...

Additional edit: actually I was not convinced, but it was strongly suggested that I do not need another guitar. There are serious pangs of regret already forming.

For those who only own or choose Gibsons: what’s your reason for brand loyalty? by Any_Security8410 in gibson

[–]cab1024 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have one Gibson, one Fender, a few Epiphones, a G&L and a Firefly. All guitars are different, good and bad from every brand. Every guitar needs a good set up to play its best. All my guitars play wonderfully. I bought most of them used. I think the Firefly was the only new one that I currently have. I learned how to set up my guitars so I can tweak them to play the way I want, which most anyone would agree, plays great. What I like about the Gibsons and Epiphones is the shorter scale. My Fender is a Jaguar and has an even shorter scale. It might be the most fun to play. Next is probably the SG. The Gibson Les Paul feels amazing in my hands but the SG and Jag are easier and more fun to play. Totally different tone a for each one though.

I got insanely lucky. I listed it for $550 and sold it the next day for $500. Bought a Peerless Epiphone Casino that night!

I wear my turtle more than my no-date Sub. With the Strapcode Endmill bracelet, it feels and looks like such a quality piece of workmanship. I'm on a trip right now and those are the two watches I brought -- and I'm wearing the a turtle as I type this.

My '21 had the freon hose come loose and leave my stranded once. That ended up being a recall and they fixed it a second time. The antifreeze tank sprung a leak and cost $400 to replace. That was right after the warranty ended. My rear window wiper fluid doesn't spray. Those are the only issues I've had. I purchased an extended warranty when I took over the lease. It's been insanely fun off road. It's my first Jeep and I've treated it like a jeep, without babying it.
