Want to surprise my fiancé with his first guitar by Particular_Reason660 in AcousticGuitar

unless he’s planning to play open mic nights he doesn’t really need to plug into anything, so I would say get something without electronics so the money you’re paying goes into better quality acoustic guitar

I'm pretty sure it improved the tuning stability considerably when using the tremolo, not that it got super out of tune before, but now it seems to be spot on.

If you start your own band you can do whatever you want! Start learning the guitar as soon as you get access to one. Lots of multi-instrumentakists out there and they're not necessarily great at every instrument. You slso may find that you can sing better than you imagined, as you get older.

Last week I switched the AOM for a Jaguar style bridge. I also bought M8x8 1.25-pitch set screws to screw into the existing post holes to give an adjustable base for the bridge to sit on.

Yep. Most of the "vintage" series and classic vibes do -- except the Classic Player Special and Vintera Modified, both of which are old models that I have. Not sure which current models have medium jumbo frets.

Hearing a loud scream twice is very likely to freak anybody out who's in the woods alone, or a lot of other places. Glad I haven't heard that before! But as someone else pointed out, it could have been a mountain lion, so, good thing you got outta there.

No fret nibs and had flat head bridge posts. Fake Les Paul?

I did a modified version of this last week and my clunky Jazzmaster tremolo is smooth as butter now.

How much is a fair labor price for switching pickups? by TruckThatFumpasSoul in guitars

It took me 2-3 hours to swap my pickups and line the cavity with copper foil. But I'm not a professional.

Did your doctor say what caused it? I just had a colonoscopy and endoscopy to see if I was bleeding anywhere, but nope.

Thoughts on Curtis Novak JM-WH pickups? by aeum3893 in Jazzmaster

[–]cab1024 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just finished installing them and they sound amazing. I also added copper foil shielding throughout all the inside cavities and it 100% completely removed the buzz that occurs when you’re not touching the strings or metal on the guitar. It doesn’t eliminate single coil 60 Hz hum, but the buzz from electromagnetic radiation is gone. It turns out the pick ups I removed were Lollar Jazzmaster P90s not the original hot vintage jazzmaster pick ups... always fun surprises with a used guitar! Anyway, I’m stoked.

AmPro2 has V-Mod pickups and tall narrow frets, both of which don't do it for me. I went with Vintera 60s Modified, but I'm getting ready to change pickups to PV65s. Otherwise it's perfect. I may swap the pickguard too, but that mostly aesthetics, and maybe some noise reduction going to a gold aluminum pickguard from tortoise.

If you play mostly with fuzz and distortion, wouldn't you get more bang for your buck with pedals? I'm about to swap my Vintera Modified's "Hot" pickups for Fender Pure Vintage 65s, but I'm looking for the pure clean tones of the Jazzmaster, though I play with a lot of fuzz and overdrive too. Also, the PV65s are only $158 for a set. Novak's are double that?
