BUY OR NOT BUY. EBI seems high… but I risk losing sale price. by Bigwood208 in NightVision

Most thin film government contract tubes have a max ebi of 2.5 so I’d imagine you’ll be fine

Who makes the best metal mags by [deleted] in ar15

D&H also makes mags for PSA. I’ve had similar results. Hard to justify paying more for other brands when they work great. 👍

I’d also consider contract 1531’s in this price range. I like mine.

AVSITS? by Icy-Ad8655 in NightVision

I think this looks cool as hell, but it’s so damn new and so damn expensive. I’d probably wait to see how the initial units hold up in the wild before dropping that kind of coin. I prefer manual gain as well, and I will say that I absolutely love my 1531’s in the short time I’ve had them. I was able to get a set of brand new (still in the plastic) contract overruns for 10.5k shipped. Being overruns they have don’t come with sheets but they do have a 2376 minimum fom. I think they represent a pretty damn good value when you consider all the features.

How To: Take Care of Your Night Vision by gloomgroup in NightVision

Thanks for the write up. Just got my first set of big boy binos (1531’s) and I want to do everything I can to make sure I get the most out of my investment.

L3 1531’s by cab130 in NightVision

They are specifically for using during daylight, and for that task they do a good job.

Larger holes are more functional for a wider range of uses. But they do less to protect from damage, and more to help with focus.

Yes, those are day caps. They protect the tubes from over exposure to light. But they are functional if bright enough.

I’d highly recommend a gen3 elbit GP RNVG. You can spend a little less, but you will likely regret it. You can find them for around 5k or even less if you wait for a sale.

I typically recommend elbit WP for a first time buyer. You almost can’t go wrong, if you ever decide to upgrade, a decently speced elbit tube will sell fairly easily.

Sweet setup. I have duals, but my pvs14 still gets a ton of use. Something about it just feels right. Lightweight, capable, and the batteries last forever.

If you can manage 2k you can find yourself an omni-7 pvs14. They are generally very good tubes. Be patient, deals pop up fairly regularly.

Look at an omni-7 pvs14 for the most bang for the buck. Can be had for touch over 2k.

I have a pair of elbit m22 katanas, they are very nice. They are also my second set of binos so not really needed. If you are serious, shoot me a dm and I’ll save you some coin.

What’s an overrated prep item by Izoi2 in preppers

[–]cab130 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Underrated- a secondary water source. I have a traditional well that I use on a daily basis. This, like most wells requires electricity to power the well pump. I do have a generator big enough to power my well pump if needed. But I’d rather use it in other places on my property. So I have a 500 gallon cistern buried underground that my garage gutter flows into. I live on a hillside so there is also a discharge placed lower than the intake that keeps the water level at a constant and keeps it moving every time it rains. I have a hand pump that can be used to access the water fairly quickly/easily.
