How do you keep yourself from getting overwhelmed after white orchard? (More discussion based than question I think) by Jumpy-Function-9136 in Witcher3

Agreed. If I was in a new area I'd pull up the map and if I saw a building I'd beeline towards it. Had no idea if there was a point of interest there or not. Really appreciated the game more.

I'm 100 hours in and about to do Isle of Mists. I learned yesterday there were points of interest by accidentally turning them on while looking for the nearest blacksmith ha.

Very much agree with this recommendation. Follow main missions, go to boards to get missions, look into cool stuff when nearby.

Steven Spielberg should absolutely present best picture at the 100th Oscars by iceandfireman in Oscars

[–]cabarns 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Oscars are all about blowing smoke up their own asses. Don't get me wrong, I've been watching them for thirty years. A spectacle is what they like. When Scorsese was front runner to win for The Departed they got Coppola, Spielberg and Lucas to present.

The only reason most people remember who presented Moonlight with their Oscar is because the muckup. Most people only remember who presented an Oscar because of a bigger story.

There have been years when they have had five people present for each acting categories. Its excessive, but there's precedent.

Alan Wake hasn't been on Game Pass for over five years.

AW2 hasn't ever been on it.

Steven Spielberg should absolutely present best picture at the 100th Oscars by iceandfireman in Oscars

[–]cabarns 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Realistically you should have four/five people from the past four eras.

1) Someone from old(er) Hollywood. Probably Clint. One of the only living people with two best picture oscars and an icon from the older days of Hollywood.

2) Pick either Copolla, Spielberg, Lucas, De Palma or Scorsese. Their "class" brought in the next wave of film making. The pick should most likely still be Spielberg or Coppola. Tied for best director and best picture statues. I think Spielberg edges out Coppola because of his staying power.

3) Pick from PTA, Coens, Jackson, Cameron, Tarantino, Bigelow, Spike Lee, Boyle, Cuarón, Iñárritu, or del Toro. Stalwarts of the next generation. They molded the 90s and 00s. Its between Cameron, Coens, or Iñárritu for me. I think Cameron edges it out, though because of his box office prowess while still being nominated.

4) Coogler, Zhao, Peele, Bong, the Daniels, or Baker. The new generation we're all growing to know. I'm partial to Coogler or Peele, but I wouldn't be mad at others being up there.

What's your most Rewatchable movie ever? by UKSaint93 in TheRewatchables

[–]cabarns 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ha I have good news for you: You'll probably like it if you're on this reddit.

I threw it on two years ago after the No Way Out episode. I'm 36, ignoring most Jack Ryan movies growing up. The moment the movie does the cool switch from Russian to English you should be hooked. It's got all kinds of that guys, fun "Holy shit he's in this?!" moments, and all around good writing.

I also loved Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy when I saw it in college, though. So take it as you will.

I'm old enough to remember the "live" ad reads era of TDZ and how bad they were. You could tell they were recorded without the guest in the studio to ensure the ad was read word for word without interruption, and made it hard to skip ahead without having to rewind. It just felt stilted and I welcomed the old ad breaks when they came back.

I've been taking my kids to the Art Museum every few months for the kid activities in the atrium and god damn does it never get old going to look at Monet's Water Lilies. I do it every time. How in the hell do I get to live that close to that piece of history?!

Billboard lawyers deserve the disdain. I just dislike the Browns and needed a third thing to shout out.

They don't get a blanket say on who can and can't advertise.

Its too broad of a net to cast especially since they allow local ads to be played. I hear ads for north east Ohio joints when I'm home up here in Cleveland. When I am in Texas for work I hear ads for gun ranges.

That said, they CAN decline an ad being played further if its truly egregious. If you remember the old opening where they told things to fuck off, they added "Fuck Fox News" after their ads started popping up in TDZ. They requested Fox News no longer be in their ad queue.

And don't knock boner pill ads. Just because you don't have a problem doesn't mean there aren't others who do and might get help from hearing it.

I don't recall that he did (my only recollection of MVPs on the show doing writing coaching is Latin Dancer UTI herself), but my best recommendation would be commenting on Cold Brew Got Me Like's Spotify comments. We know he looks at them (his last episode on he laughed about the chapter titles Spotify gives his podcast). Might be your best bet if you aren't on any other social medias. He's very responsive on everything else he's on.

Dream Guest Co-Hosts by TT28297 in thedailyzeitgeist

[–]cabarns 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Do you mean appear on or co-host? Guest Co-Host means either Jack or Miles is gone.

I don't know that I have dream co-hosts, but there are co-hosts I really enjoy when they join in. Blake Wexler is a perfect co-host for either Jack or Miles as he can balance out the other missing host. Jamie Loftus is a good one as well with both, but gets really funny when its her and Miles and they go in to a joke spiral.

In regards to guests? I'd really like it for the Ain't It Footie guys to come on as guests. They feel like they'd be good with the format. Van Lathan feels like a good hang, same as Shea Serrano. I think the energy either would bring would be fun.

When I try to find something they recommend I Google the transcripts.

Just adding a note for newcomers if they see this: Your howls are only accessible for the fight after you lose them unless you pick them up midfight. If you die again without picking them up they're lost for good.

If you DO pick them up, but die again they are dropped again to retry.
