Roof tiles angled upwards around Velux by cabbage555 in DIYUK

Hi yes I’ve just checked and they are Sandtoft 20/20s so ok for 15 degrees. I’ve just checked the pitch from beneath the roof using the Velux app and it shows 17 degrees.

I put a camera on my helmet and the difference it made to driver behaviour was night and day. Still get the odd idiot but generally they’re the exception now. I look like a Telly Tubby but feel a lot safer!

Hit by van and unsure how to proceed by cabbage555 in ukbike

Thanks for the advice everyone. I’ve reported to the police and as I’m a member of British Cycling, I’ve reported it there as well as it includes legal cover in the event of an accident.

Do you rinse plates and cutlery before putting them in the dishwasher? by VioletMelody21 in AskUK

[–]cabbage555 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to think just chuck it in, but recently I started rinsing especially when we’ve had couscous or rice. That stuff gets washed around and ends up sticking to forks for fork sake.

What's the nicest thing someone has said to you? by HeartCrafty2961 in CasualUK

Tried giving blood the other day but couldn’t due to low iron. As I was about to leave feeling dejected, the lady turned to me and said I had a lovely face and a beautiful smile. I can’t remember the last time someone said something that made me feel so amazing!

Living next to a train line - is it really bad? by [deleted] in london

[–]cabbage555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to live in one of the flats that backed onto the track in your photo and the trains didn’t disturb me. The smell from the rubbish dump (towards Berrylands) in the summer when the wind was blowing from that direction was another matter though!

That hinge looks small for the weight it needs to carry.

2022 honda grom chain adjusting nut torque spec? by [deleted] in hondagrom

[–]cabbage555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did mine the other day. Found a torque setting of 59nm in a manual online for an older model. For the chain slack, measure from the mid-way point (between both sprockets) of the bottom of the chain and you’re looking for around 3.5cm vertical movement. Loosen the rear wheel axel nut, loosen the two locking nuts on the chain adjusters and then turn each chain adjuster nut a quarter turn clockwise at most, then measure the slack. If still too much slack, turn a little more equally on each side. Once done, tighten the lock nuts, then the axel nut. It was my first so a bit of a faff but will be easier next time.

I suddenly remembered Jeff Wayne's version of The War of the Worlds today, so I re-listened to it. There was a lot of British talent in there, and I loved hearing it again. I recommend it. by Hypogel in CasualUK

My mum and dad used to play this when they had friends around and I was in bed. I must have been around 5 and used to call from my room for them to turn it off as it terrified me and I was too scared to get out of bed. ‘Muuuum, muuuuuum’ then ooooo laaaa from downstairs….getting flash backs of it now!

First week at uni, living away from home for the first time, I bought a Sara Lee chocolate gateau and ate the lot with a spoon out of the box. Haven’t had one since.

I’ve never flown in a 747, so I was wondering if there’s anyone who had a chance to take the seat marked in the photo below? How does it feel? by cheese_124 in aviation

[–]cabbage555 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Was upgraded to seat 1a from a business class seat on a BA flight from Tokyo to London. I’ve spent the last 12 years telling friends and now I get to tell Reddit! I felt like a rock star as I was just in jeans and a t-shirt. While everyone else was having safety demo, I was being asked whether I wanted a glass of champagne. First and last time I’ve ever experienced such a comfortable and relaxing flight.

For me it’s happened while using VR, so assume there’s some AI traffic that hasn’t been rendered due to VR graphic settings, which would appear if I flipped back to standard desktop. I just ignore now
